Don't Bother

by Neon H8tr from doesnt matter (6/07/06)
Pros:Price
Cons:unreliable, cannot keep up with 350z, WRX, EVOs

this car is fast, for it's price, and that is all. The car is unrelaible, does not handle well, and gets dusted by every 350 Z to Evo 8 it comes across. Sure the Nissan 350Z cost more, but you can get a 2004 or a 2003 for about 22,000 right now, and by doing so, are getting a FAR superior sports car. This car is nothing more then a tuned Neon, other cars like the 350Z, WRX, and EVO 8 are true, purpose designed sports cars, and as such, far better.

overalll, this thing is a POS.

2004 Red Pocket Rocket

by Dave and Barb from Ramstein AB, Germany (5/28/06)
Pros:Great performance
Cons:none

I ordered my 2004 SRT-4 Red Rocket in Nov 2003. Picked it up in early March 2004. Living over here in Germany and being able to use this car on the Autobahns is a real hoot! BMW's, "fast" Mercedes Benz's and other exotic European cars are fun to play with. I love the power, handling and overall fit and style of the car. I do not drive it in the winter, too much salt on the roads. Want to keep it nice. The two things that I noticed not rally a con, just the nature of this beast! The tires do wear fast and crusing at 120 MPH, your gas milage will suffer! But, I don't care! It's that much fun. If you don't get one, you'll wish later you did!!

Great conversation stopper

by Madox01 [SilverSrt4] from California, Covina (3/20/06)
Pros:Awesome!!! Stock ran 14.1 quarter mile, It's only a neon 'til you get beat then its an SRT4!!!!!
Cons:Wheel hop, but countered with only a $25.00 motor mount insert!

How could you not like a true Mopar muscle in a neon? Soo many people talk crap about this car and how it is FWD so what it is still murdering the import market and they stopped making this and people still can't get enough of it. Great car for the money, got mine for $17,900 out the door. Can't beat it...

Oh and the gas saver option is great....Boost or don't. It will save gas one way and it will put yo in the seat the other way. Yo9u figure it out. I'm going driving.

best car for the money

by max from miami fl (2/25/06)
Pros:best car performance for the money
Cons:you will get depressed everytime you look at the gas gauge

amazing car everything perfect exept they must have estimated the gas mileage on a regular neon without a turbo because this one likes gas

a better "wake up" than your morning coffee

by old lady from Pennsylvania (2/14/06)
Pros:quick, great handling.
Cons:that darn key release button.

awesome car. more than I expected or hoped for. Parked next to my Neon SXT, the SRT looks strikingly like a Neon, but that's where the similarities end. No, the spoiler isn't in the way if you're under 5'5", less so than a SXT spoiler. "Hard to shift"-I'm a 110 pound woman, and if I have no problem shifting, few people should. I can see how the seats are a love/hate thing. I love them. It's the perfect midlife crisis car (I understand I'm too old to be a "performance enthusiast"). Lots of room for grocerys in the trunk, and the kid with 2 large dogs in the backseat. They aren't for everyone- a little raw and uncivilized, not unlike '60-'70 muscle cars, but smaller and better behaved. If I wanted a Buick, I'd have bought a Buick. If I wanted a car to drive itself, I'd take a taxi.

I believe in buying American made and keeping Americans working. I would HIGHLY recommend this American car. It's like an eager horse just waiting for a little slack in the reins.

(Don't worry, I haven't subjected my car to to Rick Springfield or Madonna, and it does have a chance to stretch it's legs- I'm not dead yet.)

Most Awesome Compact Sedan For The Buck!!!!!!!!!!!

by Jason S. from Orlando, Florida (2/12/06)
Pros:UBER FAST for the coin, Slick package (even if it's a "Neon"), 100s of Aftermarket Goodies
Cons:It is still a "Neon".

Neck snapping acceleration, huge turbo accelerations and popping deccelerations, best bang-for-the-buck car I have ever driven!!! This "Neon on Steroids" is not the friendly "Hi" car that was intro'd long ago! It reminds me more of fire-breathing, popping and growling cars you would find on TV racing around mountains at insane speeds. I test drove the Evo VIII and WRX Sti, both costing nearly 10-15 grand more four wheel drive!? I'll take my SRT and the money I saved and spend it on the 100s of aftermarket parts available for the SRT4 and have an under 10 second car with some warranty still intact! No Evo or WRX can touch it (not too much else for that matter under 60 grand). The only drawback to this awesome little car is that it IS a Neon (in platform and some parts anyway). Dodge used the same chassis and some of the cheesy little plastic bits and parts found on the base Neons. However, that being said, I wish I could tell my insurance agent that it IS "just a Neon" as I hear "Umm Hmm" coming over the phone when mentioning that it's an SRT4! Folks, this might be "just a Neon", but the SRT4 is one of the fastest, best handling cars I have EVER driven, never mind that it costs about what a 4 cylinder Camry costs and aftermarket parts are crazy available. Did I mention it comes with 4 doors and child safety seat anchors? Buy them now! Because sadly the '05 SRT4 is the last year of production for this soon to be legendary car. I am buying as many as I can and storing them as less than 25,000 will EVER be made and it's already an icon on the road with the TUNER crowd.

If you like fast get one

by David from Brooklyn, NY (1/30/06)
Pros:Great Performance, Great Looks, FAST as hell, Fun to drive,Show off
Cons:No cruise control, Bad turning ratio (for U-turns) No vanity light, no trunk light. Manual back wind

I'v had this car only a few days now but i love it more and more everyday. I cant really go to fast yet with only 600 miles but im getting there. The handling on this car is excellent compaired to enything i'v ever driven its definetly up there. I drive valet so i drive many dif cars. I love the way this car looks both inside and out.... What can i say Its fast, great handling, looks great i think...Even though its sometimes called a neon wich i hate but drive it once and you'll never call it a neon again. Neon's dont sound like this they dont drive like this and they are definetly not as fast as this...

Bottom line: Fun

by Abel from Los Angeles (1/30/06)
Pros:Fast, decent fuel economy, cool low RPM rumble, nice overall finish, and it's cheap
Cons:Ride is a little too tall, spoiler looks clumsy

Despite what people might say about it being a Neon, the SRT package speaks for itself when you drive it. You'll forget about all things Neon and realize that this thing has a huge fun factor.

Interior is standard econo-car fare, not too flashy, but not less than the average Civic or Corolla. The ride is firm, but not silky smooth like a luxury car, so some passengers might complain.

The bottom line is the engine. It's fast, and has the ability of pulling the steering wheel out of your hand if you're not paying attention. It has a beautiful turbo note though, and it's just fun to drive. If you're looking for a toy that can double as a commuter, then it's worth it's price - if you can still find one.
