Here are a few cars that cost around $100K: Audi R8, Porsche 911 Turbo and Nissan GT-R. Unlike these three examples, the beauty of the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is that it lays down the rubber nearly as well as any of those six-figure rides, but at nearly half the price.
But there’s just one problem — the new Corvette is in such high demand, that dealers think they can reach their grubby hands in our pockets, and pull out six-figures for one of these bad boys. Or at least, that’s what one San Fran dealer is doing to some poor Corvette hopefuls.
At $51,995 for a base Corvette ($75,000 for the one pictured here), it is a relatively modest price to pay for such a potent piece of machinery. But these photos from Jalopnik paint a different story. Courtesy Chevrolet in the Bay Area of California is marking up the sticker price of a brand new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray — equipped with the Z51 package — for a mind-blowing $100,760. That is exactly a $25,000 markup.
The extra $25K tacked onto this ‘Vette is undoubtedly due to the sportscars high-demand. Let’s just hope that someone isn’t ignorant enough to fall for it. Although, someone probably will.
