Modern art doesn’t make any sense — probably because it’s not supposed to. Many times, works are filled dramatic metaphors, empty space, and repressed sexual memories. But as we’ve seen in the past (click here), modern auto-themed art can be as whole-heartedly confusing as it is fun to look at.
Case in point: this. As you can clearly see, the installation features dinosaurs melded with a helicopter and an old Volkswagen Bug — and it is so cool to look at. Sculpted in the 1970s by Cincinnati-based artist Patricia Renick, the two pieces symbolize the death of the gasoline-powered vehicle (go figure), and a call for “hope for the end of war.”
Tucked away until Renick’s passing in 2007, the two works, entitled Stegowagenvolkssaurus and Triceracopter (try saying either name three times fast), have been on display at Northern Kentucky University and the University of Cincinnati thanks to some eager fans.
