BMW M5 ConceptThe video below isn’t the first leaked by the Bavarian automaker
showing the new M5, but it does provide the clearest picture yet as to
what the new uber-sedan will look like. BMW refers to the M5 Concept as
“highly traditional,” and judging from the lines of the new car,
you may be inclined to agree with them. Perhaps the most radical
revision from the previous generation is the use of matte paint, and the
carefully updated styling is evolutionary, not revolutionary.
New for 2012 is a twin turbo, V-8 engine that replaces the outgoing V-10. Output still hasn’t been finalized, but estimates say the new engine will produce a minimum of 555 horsepower, which makes the last generation’s 500 horsepower seem anemic in comparison.
BMW M5 ConceptIt’s no secret that BMW wants bragging rights to the “world’s fastest sedan” back from Cadillac, and the new M5 may be just the car to bring the crown back to Germany.
Look for more pictures and details when the M5 Concept makes its Shanghai debut on April 21.
