Built Ford Fast?

2011 F-250 Super Duty Tops 182 mph.

182 mph — that’s how fast Hajek Motorsports and Ford Engineers got their 2011 Ford F-250 Super Duty to go. On its way to 182 mph, the 6.7-liter turbodiesel V-8-equipped F-250 set not one, not two, but three production truck land speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats.

The three speed records that this lightly-modified F-250 broke were in the B Production Diesel Truck class, at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The truck broke the biodiesel record, using soy-based fuel by hitting 130.614 mph. The F-250’s second fastest record of the day was using regular diesel fuel, where it managed to hit 171.123 mph. The third and final record of the day was using B20 biodiesel, where the F-250 topped out at 182 mph. For comparison’s sake, the old record was set by a Duramax-equipped GMC Sierra HD, which only managed 166.850 mph.

The most remarkable thing about the F-250’s speed is that it the truck remains mostly stock. Ford says that its engineers and Oklahoma-based Hajek Motorsports only installed a high pressure fuel pump, new fuel injectors, new turbos, and modified the compression ratio. Aside from the performance modifications, the F-250 was also fitted with a roll cage, five-point harness, a drag chute, aerodynamic fairings for the front bumper, and the obligatory salt flat moon-dish wheels. The F-250’s drivetrain and transmission were stock.

of course it doent hurt to have money to do it.

and they probably reduced the compression ratio, not raised it!!

the most interesting thing was 11mph increase with changing fuel type,(20% bio-diesel).
like to know what was in fuel??

ONE THING I ALWAYS FIND FUNNY, IS WHEN EVER A CONTEST OF TUG OF WAR BETWEEN A FOR AND DODGE OR CHEVY, THEY ALWAYS HAVE TRACTION CONTROL OF POSI-TRAK. PULLING AGAINST A FORD EITHER WITHOUT OR THE TRACTION CONTROL TURNED OFF. THAT LEAVES THE FORD SPINNING ONE WHEEL. THE RIGHT REAR. WHERE THE OTHERS WILL SPIN BOTH BACK TIRES A LITTLE AT FIRST. AND THE SAY THEY ARE USING COMPRIBLE MODELS. I CALL FOUL. JUST LIKE THE LATEST TUG OF WAR WITH THE DODGE DURANGO. THE REAR TIRES ONLY ROLLED BACKWARD ON THE EXPLORER AND THE FRONT WERE LOCKED WITH NOT MOTION DRAGGING THE FRONT WHEELS. SOMETHING WRONG WITH THAT TEST. YES, THE DURANGO HAS POWER, BUT I DON'T CARE WHAT KIND OF RIG YOU HAVE, IT GOING TO FIGHT A LOT MORE THAN THERE SUPPOSED TEST. IF THEY WERE PULLING IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE THE EXPLORER WOULD BE SPINNING TIRES AND SO WOULD THE DURANGO.

Hollywood, my friend. Hollywood. My experience is that the better combination of driver and vehicle wins when "comparable models" are put up against each other.

Ford, dodge, or chevy, doesn't matter, each is only good as the bitch behind the wheel

I hope they make them even faster. It's good income for towns and states. The more speed, the lower the speed limit. It's one way to help the economy.

At a possible 182mph the local undertaker may cash in as well. Not to worry we have plenty of 20+ year old guys to spare.

Does whatever you're driving now get 182mpg? No, but you bought that anyways, didn't you?

Christian Seabaugh, Yes it might be mostly stock. It is stock as in it looks mostly stock. Changing turbos, compression ratios, injectors, and the other things make a huge difference in it. So as far as it goes, this thing is not close to stock at all. Get one that has all factory components that any person can get and put it out there and lets see how fast it goes then.

I used to avoid Ford products until a guy I work with turned 300K on his F-250. The truck has been worked like a mule and still looks and runs great. I've owned nothing but GM truck products and have been satisfied with their performance, but after seeing his Ford truck, and after what Obummer did with GM, I have vowed to never again own another GM vehicle.

people say "oh it's a ford" or they say "oh its a chevy". Its all a stupid opinion. Everyone sides with a car brand based on conformity or how they were brought up. Most of the people don't even know anything about cars. A car is a car and if you don't beat the crap out of it it will last a long time. Ignorant people bring up stupid arguments like this.
