When Lotus announced it would be building a motorcycle, scoffs were had, and eyebrows were raised. After all, how could a company barely surviving in the automotive industry produce a whole new vehicle and expect it to be a success. But naysayers have been hushed — at least for the moment.
This is the first two-wheeled vehicle in Lotus’ expanding lineup. It’s the C-01, and it mixes the power of a Volkswagen GTI with the looks of a movie-style superbike.
Only 100 of these stunning super bikes will ever be built, and each will come with a 200 horsepower, four-stroke, 1195cc V-twin engine within. Those 200 horses, mind you, will only be moving around something that weighs less than some human beings (400 pounds).
The design of the bike was done by none other than Tron: Legacy and former Bugatti designer Daniel Simon. You’ll notice the many similarities to the Tron light cycle with the Lotus’ long, sleek design. It’s even coated in classic Lotus liveries and one very nifty Martini paint job.
No word on how much it’ll cost — but it’s gorgeous and powerful and begging to be ridden.
