Subaru showed off a sleek but substantial-looking new 2015 Legacy Concept model during the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Legacy midsize sedan. The custom Ocean Silver Metallic exterior features modern lines that provide cues for future Legacy models, according to Subaru officials.
A distinctive front-end design with a new hexagonal grille and headlamps that are more rakishly designed were a few of the new features on the Legacy concept, in addition to flared wheel arches to frame the vehicle's 21-inch wheels.
The 2015 Legacy concept model is powered by a standard Subaru symmetrical all-wheel-drive drivetrain. Taillamps are similar in design to the concept's "hawk-eye" headlamps, according to a statement from Subaru, which is a wholly-owned brand of Japan's Fuji Heavy Industries, Inc.
Although there is no information yet about engine options, Subaru may introduce diesel-hybrid powertrains in the near future, according to some media reports. During the press preview at the LA Auto Show, Subaru officials said that the auto brand has achieved five consecutive years of record sales and anticipates selling nearly 420,000 units globally in 2013.
Through the first 10 months of the 2013 calendar year, Subaru sales in the United States were 347,890 units, up from 271,582 in the same period of 2012, based on manufacturer-reported sales data collected and analyzed by J.D. Power and its strategic partner LMC Automotive.
