Unless we’re talking about the much-loved GT 86, the words “exciting” and “racing” are ones that we rarely associate with road-going Toyotas. But that might all change come next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show, as Toyota is set to unveil a Hybrid R Sports Concept.
In a brief statement, Toyota said that its new Hybrid R will utilize hybrid system-racing technology and bring it to the road. And that should come in the form of something sportier than usual:
“At the forthcoming 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, Toyota will present an exciting new concept that brings Toyota Hybrid System-Racing technology to the road (and track).”
Other details aren’t all there, but with BMW finishing up production on both the i3 and i8, there’s reason to believe that Toyota’s joint-developed sportscar could be the man behind the mask. We’ll keep you updated with any news closer to its unveiling next month.
