2006 Nissan Frontier King Cab User Reviews
LE 4X4 shown
- $7,030 - $13,015
- . Great soft sand truck!!!
- none yet ok gas mpg, loud exhaust note, fog lights will not work independently
I use this truck for hauling my boat, and for some driving in soft sand on the texas coast. So far this truck gets through everything that my full size ford 4x4 could not!! Great pulling power.

- Sleek look, solid feel, fuel economy (2.5L I4), adequate power for a 4 banger
- Ride is bumpy on rough roads, steering wanders, AC is just OK, arm rest too low and set far back.
So I finally decided to go with the Frontier XE automatic w/power 4cyl after months of research and debate. Almost bought a Tacoma, but did not want to spend 20k for a manual windows and locks Pre-Runner. I paid 16,300 out the door with 1k down for this Fronty. Don't get me wrong, I feel the Tacoma is a better quality truck, but the dealers won't budge on price, so they lost another sale to Nissan. So far I've enjoyed this little truck. Only had it a few weeks, but the 4 cyl I4 has held up well and supplies decent power. It only slows a bit on uphill inclines such as on-ramps and such. Its getting great gas mileage so far, and thats why I bought it considering gas will be at $4/gal soon. The only major complaints are that the A/C unit just blows cool air, not cold. Perhaps its an issue I should adress with the dealer. Also, the steering tends to wander on the highway, and you constantly have to correct it. This is something I observed with all 4 Frontier's I test drove before purchase. The last pet peeve is the arm rest placement. It is too low and set too far back for me. You have to kinda slouch to rest your elbow while driving, and/or move your seat back and stretch to reach the pedals. Its really too soon for a in-depth review since I've only had it 2 weeks, but I hope this helps anyways....read morehide

- good mpg, 25 on frwy
- rides like a truck, has pinging noise under load or accel, dealer says that's the way it is.
Do not buy the 4 cyl, this truck is too heavy for the engine and Nissan hasn't been able to fix the pinging problem, their looking into it. Too bad 6 cyl gets lousy mpg. Doe anyone else have this problem?

- Great accleration and Braking Avg Fuel economy about 18mpg
- Very choppy ride on concrete roads lots of steering bounce Needs steering dampening in future design
After lless than 1000 miles, developed a squeak and also had to have fron end re-aligned. Definately needs some form of steering stabilizer. I am trading it in on a new Ridgeline. First and last Nissan.

- Lots of power with 265HP V6. Great styling. Solid ride. Fun!! Good Value
- Stero a bit bland. MPG are a bit on the low side, but it is a V6. Small back seat
I can't say enough good things about this truck. I bought it about 3 months ago and I'm happy every day with my decision. I got a great deal and paid about $3000 less than a similar Toyota. I was very unimpressed with the Tacoma.
I've read complaints about the plastic feel of the interior, but I don't mind it at all. I think it looks great! I mean, this is supposed to be a rugged, mud slinging truck...who wants a fru fru interior? Not me. It's low maint.
The only drawbacks are that the back seat is small, small, small. Don't expect friends to want to take road trips with you. Speaking of which, expect to get about 18 MPG average on this truck. I've been keeping pretty solid records and you can eeek about a bit more MPG with premium gas, but it sits right around 18 MPG.
Smooth ride. Recently went camping and after 5 hours on the road, my back was still in great shape. I feel very safe in this truck with standard airbags and 4 wheel ABS with large disc breaks.
It took me a while to get a feel for where the front and back of the truck are. Beacuse of the hood design you feel like you're going to hit someone when parking, but you really have TONS of room left.
Overall I give this truck an A+. Comes with everything you need and not much you don't. Plus it's made in America by Americans. Can Chevy even say that anymore?...read morehide

I've had a Nissan Frontier XE King Cab since 1998, and after 93,000 miles the transmission has gone - to replace a transmisson from the dealer (and transmissions are not new but rebuilt) will cost $3000.

- great style,lots of power,good price
- Awful mpg, cheap interior everything is plastic and scratchs easily
We regret our choice. It looks good and has lots of power. We are un-happy with the MPG and the Cheap interior.

- Lots of truck for the money.
- No cons.
I've had a 2005 since October and it is just a great truck. I liked the dealership (Mossy in El Cajon, CA) and their service. I looked at and driven a number of trucks over the years and this one is top notch. I had a Mitsubishi Mighty Max for 18 years and it was a good truck, but the mid-size features are really great....read morehide

- Seats, ride, handling, not "cheap" feeling interior, GREAT engine
- Rear seats but what can you expect from a King Cab??
This is a GREAT truck. Full frame and plenty of power. The seats were better than my Toyota Camry which was really surprising to me as was the ride. I have put 7000 miles on this beast in under four months. I work in the oil and gas industry and I HIGHLY recommend this truck to anyone looking for a really satisfying experience. I got the 4x4 and even that is impressive, I like how Nissan upgraded the 4x4 shifter from an actual lever to an easy to use knob that you turn to put it in gear. I work in Pennsylvania but I live in Vermont and the drive up I-90 in NY isn't even as tiring anymore. My buddy said it best, "WOW! This thing rides like a caddy! You can't even tell your hauling your boat!"
Thanks Nissan!...read morehide
