- could use a bit more pep, pricey tires

I will agree with another reviewer that the 2.5 is a bit lacking in acceleration, but it will go as fast as you need so long as you don?t pull out in front of traffic. I have had my car for 10 months and still like it very much. I average about 26 MPG. I had hoped for more, but that is what I also averaged with a manual VW. The only other complaint is the special nitrogen filled tires seem a bit of a bother. You can not fill them or replace them at most stations or tire shops. Honestly though my only regret is that I didn?t go with the 3.5. If I had it to do over again I would have gone top of the line as I expect to keep this car a long time....read morehide

when its around 50 or lower out the engine sounds like its going to come apart, cant be good on the engine.
very low take off power and you can feel a miss in the engine between 1500 & 2400 RPMS. dealer says its normal on all off the above. not sure if the miss could be the CVT transmission.
do your self a big favor buy a different car..

- Pros
- V6 has plenty of pep for a mid-sized family sedan
- Cons
- Suspension a bit stiff

Just bought the 3.5SR sedan with CVT, fully loaded for $27K total including taxes, tags, dealer fee. Purchased at AAA price. I test drove both the 2.5 and the 3.5 engines. Found the 2.5 to have a noisy whine from the CVT compared to the 3.5 package. Love the technology: voice recognition, navigation, rear view camera, bluetooth phone, intelligent key, pushbutton ignition, Bose hard disk stereo, streaming ipod play through speakers, USB connector for MP3 playback. Can watch a DVD movie on the screen but you have to be stopped with parking brake on. I cannot comment on reliability since I have only had the car a week. The chief competitors in the mid-size family sedan class are the Accord, Camry, and Sonata. I did not drive any of these, but have read the Accord has a softer suspension than the Altima.
The 3.5 has 100 more horses than the 2.5 so it moves. Suspension is sporty, so bumps are not muted like a luxury sedan.
Pleased with premium, sport, and technology packages and value for money. They say hindsight is 20/20 but I have no regrets thus far....read morehide1 out of 11 people found this review helpful.

Traded in my older model BMW 740 due to the expensive maintenance and thought I would never like anything again. This car has all the bells and whistles, good pickup, great exterior, and all told was in the 30,000 range. Every time I drive it I like it better.

I've been seriously looking at cars for a while. The Altima drove well at first but I was deterred by a cheap nameplate. Nissan just reeks of poverty. I proceeded to look into older models and rented one. The sun roof leaked.
I have only temporarily acquired two Nissan/Infiniti vehicles in my life and on both of them, the weather lining was coming off of the vehicle and the sun roof leaked. The person who loaned me the car told me about a lot of major mechanical problems as well. These cars are cheap, but they ultimately turn out to be a lot more expensive.
Of every make I have been in, I have found Nissan to be the cheapest and least worthwhile. They look classy at first, but age them by eight months or so and everything starts to fall apart. Interior details start to peel and fade. Cheap plastic parts get brittle and snap off. Buildup gets inside the headlights and clouds them. These cars look good at first, but if you intend to keep them for more than a year, they will look like garbage in no time....read morehide208 out of 287 people found this review helpful.
