I took my car into Nissan Service after the 2nd week because of a strange vibrating noise that sound as if it were the front bumper. This occurs with initial take off. I was told that all of the 2013 Altimas were making the same noice but there would have to be a recall before it could be repaired! Now the noise is louder and the vibration is heavier. The transmission of this car sounds like a truck. There are also too many blind spots in this car- view is obstructed in too many directions....read morehide

- Pros
- Like all aspects of the car except one big one!
- Cons
- The Big One - Noise of the transmission
Purchased As New
Really like the overall appearance and ride of the altima and I have 16,000 miles on it now. However, the transmission noise supposedly generated by the CVT transmission is obscene. It should NOT be normal under any circumstance. My dealer claims it to be normal under Nissan standards and my response then to Nissan. I will soon be an EX-customer. Consider that Normal!...read morehide

- Cons
- none yet

I had an 08 altima and upgraded to this one. I absolutely love it. It's quite, rides great. No problems to report yet. I saw on some reviews that when you step on the gas it gets a bit noisy, this is somewhat true. I can't complain at all yet.

- Pros
- fuel economy seems good at 25mpg city, smooth ride, nice looking
- Cons
- engine shudders at around 20-30 mph, rattling noise in cabin, loud engine noise when accelerating

bought a 2013 Nissan Altima SL, V6, loaded. When i first bought it, it was amazing how well it drove the first couple hundred miles. Soon after, i noticed the engine started to shudder or shake when driving 20-30 mph. Once i got about that speed, it seemed to be okay. I also hear a rattling type noise in the rear part of the cabin. I hear it more when i'm on a bumpy road. I dont know if anyone else is having these type of problems on their V6 SL???...read morehide

- Pros
- Exterior looks, good fuel economy, price for features
- Cons
- Loud engine noise, whining noise, wobbling
Purchased As New
Bought this 2013 altima sv in october 2012. was comparing with accord. but accord dealers too stiff on pricing and interest rates. as this is my second car i went for altima to save money.
if you want a family car accord is better in every aspect, this car has crunched back seats. sitting for 3 adults in back seats is difficult. nasa designed zero gravity seats are not comfortable as claimed.
so far am having 8500 miles on car. most of them are highway miles. getting combined 31/32 average and 35-38 on highway. am really impressed with that. car handles good.
but i observed wobbling at higher speeds and felt like am loosing control of car.
also i heard annoying whinning noise inside car at lower speeds as written in reviews by almost everyone who owns this car. had a talk to dealer he says its frm transmission its normal.
engines makes louder noise than honda/toyota. also engine vibrations can be felt through center console, side window panes.
overall it needs improvements to become perfect family car....read morehide4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

- Very noisy, too many issues with the electrical steering mechanism

If you are looking to spend $$$ and become a lab dummy for Nissan, this is the car for you. I purchased the 2013 Nissan Altima 2 months ago with a trade in (2009 Nissan Altima). My old Altima was gold compared to the new car. From the second day after taking it out of the dealership, there was loud whining noise, enough to scare you while driving. Took it back to the dealer, who thought it was the steering pump. After replacing the steering pump, the whining sound still was heard. Serv. manager said he tested it thoroughly. Anyways, additional repairs included AC pipe alignment, brake squeaking loudly at 200 miles, and center console sticking, the car is still noisy. I drove rental cars more than my own NEW car. If you purchase this vehicle, be prepared to hear the word, "Unfortunately" a lot from the dealer and service agents . Being a loyal Nissan loyal customer, I expected more from Nissan and will not be patronizing them in the future. My experience was also shared by folks who complained on NHTSA about the 2013 Altima. Do your research before purchasing this vehicle, otherwise you become part of the lab rat team like the current owners who consistently at the service shop for service issues....read morehide

- Pros
- Redesigned 2013 Altima is beautiful
- Cons
- The bottom seat's angle cannot be adjusted.
Purchased As Not Purchased
I have had two previous Altimas and was looking forward to the improved seats in the 2013 model. However, there is a design flaw. The bottom seat's angle is constant no matter how far forward or back, up or down you move it. I like to sit with my back fairly erect, but the bottom seat at it's deepest point in considerably lower than the front edge of the seat, so my hip angle is too acute and the back of my knees feel pressure from the front edge. I am heartbroken because I love this car otherwise....read morehide

I tested Honda Accord EX, Ford Fusion, Hyunday Sonata, Kia Optima, and VW Passat before test the Altima..I was between the Honda and the Altima..but better price and some features made the deal...Is one of the best cars in this category I drove...the wheel is not too hard or too soft (fusion is too soft..not a car for a man) and the ride is smooth with an impressive acceleration without over revollutionate the car or cause fluctuations on the RPM engine..overall I,m very happy so far......read morehide
