- makes funny noise sometimes when i accelerate

This is a smokin hot car for a smokin hot girl!! It feels so awesome driving this car. I love everything about it. The bose stereo system sounds great, but i'm going to add some extra speakers in the gigantic trunk space i have. The only thing that worries me is i always want to speed, and sometimes i go a little faster than i want because i'm not quite used to the power. I had a lincoln towncar once with a v8 and it seems like the maxima has more power than it did....read morehide

I've had only Nissans, starting with a 2004 Nissan Sentra, then a 2005 Nissan Maxima, and now another Maxima, this time a 2006 (though there is little difference between the '05 and the '06)
The Maxima is a phenomenal car for the money. For less than $30, you can get a well equipped vehicle that will keep you far safer on the road than souped up Altima's or equivialent cars. Each of the two front seats has 5 airbags each. Traction control and ABS with electronic assisted braking is standard. Crumple points, active-head restraints, and steel reinforcement on the frame is all standard.
The acceleration is incredible, even after a year of driving. The tires wear out easier, so without regular roations, you'll notice a lot more slippage when you hit 6,000 rpm if you're not holding on tight enough. Many drivers don't realize that when accelerating with this much power. The turn radius is probably the only truly awful part of a Maxima: 41 feet! It's difficult to get into tight turns around buildings, and U-Turns on anything but a wide two lane street is a fantasy. At times you'll feel like you're really in a boat.
In terms of features, the standard array is impressive - dual climate control, 240 watt stereo with subwoofer, tire-check, tons of little settings (like how long the headlights stay on, how the doors unlock, how the windshield wipers detect speed), mood lighting, sport-tronic, one touch front power windows, auto-dimming mirror, and on the SL, heated mirrors and seats. That's in addition to anything you'd find in a entry level vehicle.
Quite a nice car. Even so, when it's time to trade in, I think I'll move up to Nissan's luxury line, Infiniti....read morehide2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Engine, styling, comfort, quality
- Cons
- Armrest, soft suspension, resale value
Awesome car, traded a lemon 06 Mustang GT on this 06 Maxima SE, light years apart in build quality. The Maxima does everything well, highway, curves, city driving. Great car, the only downside is the resale value plummets on Nissans which is a shame. But they will last so much longer than Ford its worth it. And Nissan dealers will fix problems instead of running you off like Ford dealers. A sure bet....read morehide

- Pros
- Acceleration, Agressive design, Smooth CVT
- Cons
- Wide turning radius, Difficult to customize interior if you have base model
I chose the base Maxima SE over the top of the line Camry XLE V6 as they are priced relatively similar. I also looked at the 2007 Honda Accord, however neither the Camry nor the Accord compared to the Maxima. Toyota boasts that their V6 engine has 268 horses but the Maxima's accelleration and overall engine performance far exceeds the Camry. The design of the Maxima is much more aggressive than the Accord's current design, which is pretty boring this year. If you have a need for speed like me, value performance but cannot afford an Acura TL or one of the BMW 3 Series, I suggest the Maxima. The turning radius is pretty wide but it is the best value for the high $20s-mid $30s. If you can afford some of the accessories I highly reccommed them especially if you want to customize it as you would have to get some things in the interior retrofitted, which can cost....read morehide

- Pros
- Nice Handling, Very Fast, You can't beat the price!
- Cons
- The engine can be a little noisy, steering is soft and leather is slippery, average stereo on SE
I bought this car used with 15K miles on it and I was not totally impressed at first but I still ended up trading in my 2000 Maxima for this '06 one because I already know how the car's drive and performance. The more and more I drive it, the better I think it is and I guess its just a matter of getting used to. I like the acceleration, handling, braking and good looks of course. And guess what, I only paid for $19,000 for this car. How can you top that? Because my previous Maxima had this engine light problem that seems to be popping up regularly and having the dealer rip me off when it comes to servicing it, I decided to buy extended warranty for this '06 one for less than $2K for 7 yrs. 100K miles because I know I will keep this car for a while and it will be worth it. I can't say anything more because I just got this car couple of days ago but boy, it was truly a fun car to drive. Do yourself a favor and save your ten to fifteen thousand dollars in the bank and consider this car instead of the bimmers and benzos because you won't be dissappointed....read morehide
