Purchased As Used
I purchased my 2006 Murano in 2008. It had 40k on it. The next $40,000 miles must have been our honeymoon period. Too avoid being long winded, here are all the things that have gone wrong; driver's sun visor will not stay up, drivers seat came un-welded and rocks back and forth, the AWD button pushed into the console, the driver's side window will only go all the way up after many attempts, had to replace both CV axels, the fuel pump sensor is broken, the O2 sensor went kaput, back console/drink holder broken, car charger outlet popped out of the dash, and it is currently sitting in a shop after I paid a fortune to have it towed there after it started jerking and grinding and became undrivable. So much for NOT being long winded! In short, don't buy a Nissan. This car is the money pit!...read morehide

- Brake squeek fix
- Brake squeek fix
Most people do not relise that breakes need to be broken in. To do this takes some time out of a day but will promice to releave most brake pad issues. A simi-metalic brake pad should be broken in by accellerating the car to 15 mph lightly applying the brakes to slow to approximatly 5 mph the minimum amount of times to repeat this process is 30 times and most "car guys" will do this 40 to 50 times. This process will shape the pads to the roters, prevent glazing, and add life to your brakes.
Also keep in mind to wash your vehical very well, regularly this helps to prevent dirt build up and truly keeps mechanical items working correctly for a much longer period of time.
Another way to fix brake squeel is to have your mechanic apply a very very light coat of squeel stop. This is usually a thin rubber or adhesive compound that prevents your brake pad from resanating a frequency at the time of brakeing (squeeling)....read morehide

- Sport Luxury Look, Base model has lots of goodies.
- Brakes squeek while backing when cold.
Our 2006 Murano seems to be a great car and my wife loves it. I have researched this 3.5 liter V6 motor that Nissan uses in a lot of their cars, including this Murano, and it is possibly the best v6 made. It has been in the top ten motors manufactured every year for like 10 years...we will see how this CVT transmission lasts but it is sure smooth and quiet and has to be easy on the motor since the rpm's don't jump all over the place....this is what makes the fuel economy above average. We looked at other SUV's in this class and none compared in all catagories from price, safety, comfort, style, power train, options (we bought the base S model with AWD and it came loaded), MPG, or braking. One negative for our Murano has been like so many others...the brakes squeek when we back up after the car has been sitting for a few hours. It is just the first time you step on the brakes for now but we will be going to Nissan for a service soon and see if they are willing to deal with this problem. It is not dangerous but it is not perfect...in fact it probably makes the vehicle safer since anyone walking behind it would hear you backing up....still annoying for a brand new vehicle with 1000 miles on it....read morehide

- great on fuel
- good ride, breaks do make noise when backing up, load idol when sitting still
I purchased my murano in Dec. and have been very pleased with it the only problem I have is that it idol's high at a complete stop and when backing up the breaks make noise. Other then that the vehicle is all that I had been looking for in a suv.

- Great on gas, Fast and rides like my caddy. Love the 18 inch wheels.
Great car? Great Truck? Great all around Crossover. I never drove a CVT trans before but it's growing on me. The lack of the gears shifting is different and sometimes seems like your not moving, but look at the speedo and the cars in your rearview mirror to get the real story. I would highly recommend this SUV....read morehide

- FASssssst. Very Fast. Handles like a sports car. I'm 6'2", 290, and It's like setting in a lounge
- Actually, one. I have to pay for it. But thats not so bad. Got a great deal
I travel down and up a mountain side daily and this vehicle is head and shoulders above virtually everything going up, but another Murano or powerful luxury/sports vehicle. The transmission is all it is advertised to be. So is the engine. I purchased the 2006 S-AWD with the convenience package and find it all I need. It's a big family car (at least I'm big), and something that can entice you to put it to the floor. Storage is fantastic. I hauled 4 eight foot banquet tables and 40 folding chairs with it. Could have added to 2 more tables and another stack of chairs. Oh! Gas mileage is right on 23.7 -24 highway (or mountainway). Looking forward to the new versions, especially as the price comes down....read morehide

- Spacious, comfortable seating, smooth and quiet ride,
I had a 2001 Ford Escape and the Murano is much nicer. I am so glad I bought it rather than another Escape. The Murano lookes better and the ride is much smoother.

- Roomy with lots of leg room, comfortable to drive & ride
I have never owned anything except Hondas and was a devoted Honda lover. My last was the Honda Odyssey, which was a great van, BUT this is much more fun! I just purchased this SUV and find it to be surprisingly wonderful! It is fun to drive and has plenty of room for the kids and groceries. It is very quiet and has plenty of power. I would recommend anyone considering at leaset take a test drive. This is a great SUV!...read morehide

Nice looking, affordable, cross-over SUV. So far I am happy with the performance. It will take some getting use to being higher up off the road than my Accord Coupe.
