2006 Nissan Murano
There are 18 user reviews for the SL 2WD trim shown below
- good fuel economy, CVT, good size for in and out of city, maneuvers like a car, lots of cargo room
- Road noise, Limited service options because of CVT
I love my 2005 Murano!
Great gas milage (19 city/22 highway)- 7000 miles between oil changes (full syn).
Interior is extremely roomy with lots of little storage places. Hieght adjustable seat-belt, great for us shorter people.
Sound system is loud and clear without disturbing the neighbors. The auto speed/volume leveler is fabuous!
Maneuvers like a car, good control, no problem parking in tight spots (doors are light so they don't swing into the next parked car). The CVT is really nice and the engine is powerful but as quiet as a small car. Good pick up, no problem cutting in and out of traffic lanes in stop and go traffic.
I love the big tires/wheels - I don't even have to slow down over the 3 different sets of railroad tracks I cross everyday.
This SUV is a little bit pricy partially because of the look, but then again I felt it was worth it simply for the intimidation factor - the Murano looks mean coming at you on the road, and driving in Atlanta traffic, anything to make the little cars move out of the way is a big plus. Besides, looks are as much a part of a vehicle's value as anything else and the Murano looks classy.
I have the squeeky break problem, but only when I back up down-hill out of the garage in the morning. Then again so does our Trans-am and Sierra. My assessment - this is a use issue, not a defect.
I do wish there was a way to cut down on some of the road/wind noise when I travel on the highway (gets a little loud around 70-75 mph depending on road surface) - that is, besides turning the radio up.
I also wish there were more accessories available. My local dealership is also hit or miss with service.
The roof is also a pain to hand-wax/buff if you are short, but I can't really blame that on the vehicle now can I?...read morehide

- Great looking, rides nice, decent gas mileage
32000 miles, transmission imploded at 65 mph on the expressway, quite scary, towed and gone for a week, luckily covered under warranty, but according to service rep, it would have costed somewhere in the neighborhood of $7500!!! Picked it up and less than two weeks later it was back on a hook to the dealer with a bad alternator, which again....happened on the expressway. And by the way, if the alternator goes on this vehicle goes, it slides into "fail safe mode" and basically halts engine power like that, luckily both times it happend on a weekend in light traffic. Up until now there have been no problems, but with the costs involved here, I don't know how much longer I will be holding onto this one. Luckily, I'm fairly understanding but when thh transmission is nearly 1/4 of the cost of the vehicle.....that is a little scary. I made this purchase to get out of an 03 Pathfinder that went through 3 cam positioning sensors at a cost of $400 a piece in a year....read morehide

- style look nice.
- lousey brakes squeek with no fix,
I will never pay that much for a nissan again. It's just an average suv. You are paying for the looks not the quality. I had a Toyota and Honda before and they cost less and are a better suv. Next time it's a Toyota, better ride and gas mileage and cost a lot less. Don't be swayed to the Murano for looks be a smart buyer look at Toyota or Honda. It's my last Nissan....read morehide

- Gas mileage better than rating, interior comfort, handling, Bose sound
- Rides rough, pricey, replacement tires odd size-hard to find and pricey
Bought my Murano in March 2003. Vehicle currently has 92000 miles on it with only one set of brakes replaced, two recalls; one for alternator replacement, one for gas tank gravel guard and NO other problems. I shopped around extensively for other vehicles in this class before I bought this car. None other can compare on actual fuel economy. I consistently get 21 in the city , 23 mixed city- highway back and forth to work and 26-27 highway , depending on how I drive.
I have relocated twice since purchasing this car and the Nissan dealers I have done business with in 2 of the 3 states I have lived in were very good. Two dealerships in Florida were unacceptable; one in Orlando and one in Ocala. Dealership of purchase in Chattanooga Tn was very good; dealership in Harrisburg PA is excellent....read morehide

- CVT,fuel economy
- Brakes squeek, plastic interior nosie from driver, and center console rattle
I took it to the dealer twice and they said they fixed my brakes and then 2 weeks later this annyoing squeek is coming froth the brakes when backing up. Now I have other issue like plastic intrior nosie when hitting bumby road and the center console rattle to much. Also when I press or depreesed the brake pedal it also squeek. The murano likes to make to much nosie and now am regrading purchasing this car. Folks who are looking at a murano will dont get it because I don't recommend it....read morehide

- Good looks.. Very good looks!
- Ride bumpy, air conditioner loud, Lousy customer service.
I bought a Murano. 11days afterwards.. the passenger side window and the back windows would not work.. (I couldn't get it to roll back up)
They are saying the window panel is a factory defect, and had to replace it..
It's been in the shop for 5 days now.. and say they are still waiting on the parts... We're talking about a brand new car here.. with about 250 miles on it.. It just doesn't feel right..
What more can I say?.....read morehide

- Beautiful look, comfortable, great ride
- I was sold a lemon, air conditioner too loud, seat belt uncomfortable
In a matter of one month my new Murano has been serviced three times. I bought my brand new Murano at Reed Nissan in Orlando, FL.
I have owned it for one month (haven't even made my first payment). The first problem was the leather cracking on my steering wheel, second problem water leak from windshield, third replacing side panel due to water damage. New car and already three things have been replaced. If I wanted a refurbished vehicle I would have bought a used car. Nissan's response: The car is under warranty, already titled in your name, nothing is perfect. We will just fix the problem. General manager or owner of Reed Nissan will not contact us. It's been one hassle after another. Those of you reading this review make sure (somehow) that you don't buy a lemon because Nissan will not exchange the car they will only fix the problems. In one month a brand new car should not have so many problems. This has caused much frustration for me. Corporate office is of no assistance either. They leave it in the hands of the dealership who sold it to you. From my experience with Nissan (which is unfortunate because the car is sweet) MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE CAR, ENGINE, AND ANYTHING ELSE, THOUROUGHLY. I understand things happen, but too many has occured in such a short time. What a dissappointment....read morehide

- Good fuel economy, steers smoothly, gear shifting is smooth
- Poor customer service. Not appreciated/valued as a customer once I left the lot.
I purchased my 2005 Nissan Murrano in November 05 and only had it for approximtley 3 months when the "check Engine" light came on. Same time I noticed the acceleration on the vehicle was failing. I then pulled over on hwy 101, & called Nissan as I was told to bring in the vehicle for a check. I did, and was told that they had recalibrated some codes even though they could not find or reproduce the problem. Needless to say the 2nd time it happened I was almost hit from behind when the acceleration did not pick up through the intersection I was trying to get through. Nissan (after the 2nd time) said they now fixed the problem. The 3rd time and 4th time I began calling the Nissan Corporation stating that I felt the vehicle was unsafe to drive (due the lack of acceleration and a few more times of almost getting hit) and that I wanted to exercise my California Lemon Law rights. I was told that due to they could not reproduce the problem on the 1st or 3rd time TECHNICALLY it did not fall under the Law. One Nissan tech. noted that the "check engine" light was on at each visit and that atleast twice, reproduced the problem. I told 'Linda' at the Corproation that I still wanted the same make/model (even if it had to be an upgrade) but that I wanted out of this unsafe vehicle. I was told no and that they had to now give it to a specialist. SO WHO WORKED ON MY VEHICLE AT NISSAN?! (I have kept up on all of my maintaince of the vehicle when system has alerted me.) Later, I had gone out of town on a business trip when the 5th occurrence happend. I called 'Linda' back and I was just bit ticked off by this time and tried to argue my case again. I needed the vehicle for my trip and had no choice but to take it in and in hopes that not only the "check engine" get recoded but the problem get solved. I PAYED FOR A PRODUCT, I EXPECTED THE PRODUCT TO WORK. I did get the Murrano back and made it home...but since then (1 1/2 months later) had a few accleration problems but no "check engine" light. I give up. I stated this to Linda and I state this to anyone who reads this...If any person is harmed in anyway with this Murrano I blame Nissan Corporation for caring more about the Bottom Line than Human Life. I have kept my work order records as I'm sure Nissan (hopefully) has kept my records of calling in and asking only to switch out the vehicle...not for just customer service but the safety of me, you, a mother, a father, and of a child....read morehide
