This is my third Pathfinder, got it with 20K miles and LE trim. So far its been as good as my previous two but with more toys. I am a contractor so I need a truck that will carry lots of tools and stuff. Cross overs dont do it for me. The Pathfinder looks great, rides fine when I take all my stuff out of it and is a monster in the snow. They stopped making this body style and thats too bad. I have always thought it was a really good truck with tremendous reliability....read morehide

I have had the vehcile now for 8 months its my third nissan. The SUV fits my needs the third row is not comfortable unless it is being used by small children or small adults. The armada is much better is that category. I looked at the armada but the mileage i am getting witht his pathfinder is much better then most seem to get with the armada. I have the v6 pathfinder and i average 16.8 in town and 22.3 on the highway. For me its comfortable and the mileage is good for its hauling capabilities....read morehide

- Pros
- inside space is very comfortable!
- Cons
- When the kids bring down the window when the car is moving a loud and annoying popping sound
Purchased As New
When driving the vehicle down the road and when the back windows go down leaving the front side window up a popping sound and a very annoying and uncomfortable loud sound that put pressure in your ear drums! I have never drove 20 miles in a gallon. 18.5 gallon a mile is the max on this vehicle. The interior fabric is also cheap and it intents to wear out very fast! The vehicle is to expensive for what it delivers. The GPS is also very complicated and unpredictable when trying to set it up! The GPS makes everything go wack!...read morehide

- Pros
- Exterior Style, Wheels, Power, LCD display, Loud Stereo, Interior Style Grows on You
- Cons
- Noisy with Rattles all over, vibration, brakes are very soft with long travel, Low Mileage 15 mpg

The Nissan Pathfinder is one great looking true SUV. It has many angles that just add to a basic proven design. The aluminum wheels are a variation of a classic design and add to the visual appeal. The Pathfinder is a true 4x4 and the LE has most ofl the options. It can tow 6k lbs where most of the ?X? cars barely make it over 1,000 pounds. The ride is harsh which is not bad but there is a vibration through out the SUV. There are rattles all over the car since 200 miles. Anything you place in the car will rattle. If you want a solid car ride, look elsewhere.
The interior is full of cheap hard plastic which adds to the noise factor.
The stereo is easy to use, lots of options and is loud. It needs to be to cover up all the noise from the rattles, creaks and groans.
The Pathfinder is narrow so those 4x4 roads should be easy to navigate as well as parking to avoid those door dings.
If you want a factory GPS that requires a pricy upgrade. I just added a Garmin for a few hundred. The V8 option is crazy money. The V6 is plenty powerful but it does suck the gas. Being very gentle with the pedal I can barely crack 16 MPG with half of my driving on the highway.
The key less entry and starting is great. You will save hours by not looking for the key and having to use it. Just put the fob on your belt, walk up, push the button, open the door and turn the starter switch. Very nice. The manual steering adjustment is fast and smooth, no need for slow DC motors. All the 4x4 options are available at the touch of a dial. The dash LCD display is nice with lots of information. The radio data is clear and the driving history is a nice feature. You can watch your gas mileage over time attempt to creep over 16.
The brakes are soft and long throw. You swear that you are driving a car with only air in the brake lines. But 2 mechanics swear that the soft, spongy brake feel is by design. At least you will never know when to replace or bleed the brake lines.
If you drive a Sorento, MKX, SRX, RAM, Ford F150 or any other crossover, the rides are amazing. The Pathfinder steers like an old Volvo 240. It wanders and never seems to want to stay straight. Even after an alignment, steering requires your attention. I guess this is by design as well?
A short test ride does not reveal a lot of these issues. After about 200 miles the Pathfinder just seemed to come unglued. The noises, brakes and steering all went south.
Most dealers do not sell many Pathfinders so sales support is a bit weak. You will have to learn on your own.
There are a lot of short comings with the Pathfinder. Basically this is an old 4x4 design but seems to have unnecessary drawbacks. The options are costly, the ride, steering, brakes and noise are problems. Any Tahoe can out perform the Pathfinder. The current X generations will blow it out of the water. Even Nissan does not seem to be interested in addressing these issues. I am just surprised that Nissan was not the Mercedes of the import crowd.
Unfortunately I cannot recommend the Pathfinder unless you are really willing to sacrifice comfort and true quality. The fit and finish of the exterior are excellent but the interior noise from all the various materials rubbing and vibrating against each other are embarrassing. My BMW is so solid and the Pathfinder sounds like it is a 10 year old car. The only salvation would be in the winter when there are 2 foot drifts on the road. But then again, there are alternatives....read morehide32 out of 33 people found this review helpful.

- 3rd row way to small glad kids hafta climb back

The seat belts rattle in 2nd row along the plastic. Paint chips way too easy. Air conditioner cooled too much it froze up. The back window hatch has a strap holding it and if you are not careful when you close it it gets caught up and water comes in. Gas mileage is like 17 on freeway on a good day. I bought this for 22k in '08 playing 2 dealerships against each other and using edmunds web site for research. Today I was checking the new prices and they were 41k. No way would I ever pay that ever! I would never buy another only reason i did was because of the price for the room our family so needed....read morehide

- Rough ride, no leg room, cheap quality

This is the third Nissan that I have owned. I started out with an Altima and loved it. Due to a back injury and trouble getting in and out of the car, I traded the Altima for a Murano and LOVED it. I decided when I traded in the Murano I would try something new, so I got the Pathfinder. I got the Pathfinder in March 2010 and can not wait for my 39 months to be up on my lease so I can turn it back in. I HATE this truck. I purposely got this truck because it had third row seating. The problem with this is that in giving it third row seating, they took the leg room away from the second row to the point that unless you are a child, it is very uncomfortable to sit in any seat other than the front two. The exterior paint scratches at the slightest touch. The interior (pretty much every part of it) is cheap. It has so many rattle noises that I took it back to the dealer for them to take the dash apart to find out what was making the noise. When I would go over a big bump, it sounded like the front of my car was going to fall apart. The guy at the dealer told me that they put felt tape around the trim to muffle the sound. So I figure now if the front of my car falls apart, it will not make such a loud noise. So that's good. Overall, I am very unsatified with this truck and would not recommend it to anyone. I blame myself for not being happy with this auto because I should not have made a rash decision in getting this truck. Shame on me....read morehide

The truck is good power, roomy but the style is not as good as Toyota
4runner. The rear door handle is needed to redesign, too high on side of door hard to reach. Cheap plastic inside and outside, machine is too

- USELESS 3RD ROW, GAS PIG, OVERPRICED, UGLY INTERIOR, NOT VERY RELIABLE.
Purchased As Not Purchased
I DO NOT KNOW WHY EVERYONE LOVES THIS CAR HERE BECAUSE IT HONESTLY IS NOT A COMFORTABLE ONE AT ALL. I AM 6'3 AND MY HEAD ALMOST TOUCHES THE ROOF, MY KNEES STICK INTO THE DASH AND THIS IS WITH THE SEAT LL THE WAY DOWN AND ALL THE WAY BACK. THE TRUCK IS SIMPLY TOO NARROW AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN A 5 PASSENGER INSTEAD OF A 7 BECAUSE THE REAR SEAT ARE USELESS SINCE THEY DO NOT FIT ANYONE ABOVE THE AGE OF 9. THE TRUCK SHOULD HAVE BEEN WIDER TOO BUT NISSAN WANTED TO SAVE MONEY AND USE THE SAME PLATFORM ON 3 TRUCKS. THIS TRUCK IS A GAS PIG AND IS VERY OVERPRICED IM SAD TO SAY THAT AN EXPLORER OR PILOT ARE MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE AND ARE A BETTER VALUE THAN THIS SUV. IF YOU GET ONE OF THESE YOU WILL NOTICE THE CHEAP QUALITY OF THE INTERIOR AND IF YOU GET CLOTH SEATS YOU WILL NOTICE THE CLOTH IS MADE OUT OF MATERIAL ABOUT AS ROUGH AS STEEL WOOL AND WHILE THE RIDE IN THIS IS MUCH BETTER THEN AN XTERRA IT SILL GIVES YOU THE RIDE OF A WW2 TANK. DO YOUR RESEARCH (NOTICE HOW BADLY THEY DROP IN VALUE) AND SEE IF YOU WANT TO BUY THIS OR A DIFFERENT SUV....read morehide
