Before I get into the other attributes and issues...I want to address vehicle safety.
I'm currently waiting to find out if mine is totaled. We were stopped at a red light, rear ended by a Honda SUV traveling at least 60mph, and forced into an F150 in front of us. The front and rear damage is bad on my Pathfinder, but the entire cabin/cargo area was undamaged. We were told by several sheriffs that we'd likely be in the hospital or worse if it wasn't for the strong truck build and high profile of this version of the Pathfinder. I'm currently in a 2013 Pathfinder as my rental and while it's sleek and cool looking, I'm seriously considering another 2012 Pathfinder if mine winds up being a total loss.
Beyond that, for a vehicle this size and weight (remember that it's built like a truck) with a stronger V6- it can get surprisingly good gas mileage. It does better than my friend's Explorer. The cargo area is spacious, the 3rd row - while cramped is still better than many mid sized SUVs, and while the seat fabric could be nicer and more comfortable, the actual contours of the seats are very comfy (drove from Houston to Ft.Lauderdale and back). The radio is the only other issue for me- I wish it had an AUX port.
Mine also has nearly 24K mi on it after a little over a year, and so far, no real maintenance issues....read morehide
