- affordable, gets me where I need to go.
- slow to accellerate
Purchased As Used
I like the car for the most part. But I will trade it in two years I hope. Its slow to get up to speed but when it does get there its smooth sailing 50 or 60 MPH My ex boyfriend says its a cheap car I think it is practical and a decent little car. I did have a issue at the Nissan dealership they try to stick me with a $2400 dollar extended warranty. After reading over my contract I was able to figure the numbers out and I cancelled the warranty. I have learned from that mistake. All in all I pleased with m car. I like driving it more than my 2005 Chevy Malibu. However my Malibu has a better radio system that shows me when I'm low on gas when my oil needs to be changed and few other things I do miss that. I may go back to Nissan but the car I want is a Honda accord thast my favorite car. Oh well the versa is a pretty good car and I think it looks ok inside and out....read morehide

- Good on gas and runs smooth
- Service, cheap parts, multiple problems
Purchased As New
Radiator went out after 3 and 1/2 yrs (leaking badly)- dealer claims didn't know why. Had to replace and it was no longer under warranty. Speakers sound blown after rainy or damp weather. Dealer wouldn't replace or inspect the speaker housing - only listened for buzzing that couldnt be heard because of dry weather.
Car had trouble starting - dealer fixed by adding a part so fuel would stay in engine gas line instead of draining back into tank.
Overall it's an okay car but service can be iffy. Would recommend you buy if used, in good condition and cost is low....read morehide

- Good fuel economy, much more room than it looks like it has, good design, simple power extras
- BRAKES SQUEAK TERRIBLE!
I love my 2008 versa hatchback. I love the way that it looks, the way that it drives, and the fuel economy. I am a 25 year with no kids and it is perfect for my lifestyle. It is the first car that I have purchased brand new and my only complaint, a BIG one though, is how bad the breaks squeak. I think I turn heads at stops because of them. My car has 17,000 miles on it and the breaks seem to squeak worse the more I drive. I have taken it to the dealership and at first they told me it was dust buildup in metallic breaks and that I needed to wash the undercarriage often...I tried that and they still squeak. I took it to the dealership again and they say that Nissan is making a new green brake pad and that is why the newer cars are all squeaking more which I am not sure I buy. But other than terrible loud breaks and some minor things, the car is excellent and a great buy. Now if I could just get the breaks to stop squeaking....read morehide

- Great on gas
This car handles well and holds the road great. Gas economy is really good! It is roomy inside and easily seats 5 comfortably.
I enjoy driving this car.

- Fairly Roomy, Quiet
- Fuel Economy
I've put 13k miles on my 2008 Versa Hatchback. My wife says I bought a college girl car (it is Red, so what can I say). I needed a commuter to save on gas.
The interior is not bad, the black cloth seats show every little piece of dust. The driver seat sorely needs an armrest.
Mechanically this is a well built car. I rented a Toyota Yaris over the weekend and couldn't wait to get back to my Versa. The Yaris had terrible road noise (I couldn't even hear my radio at times), the suspension was very jumpy and the interior was cheap looking and cramped.
The Versa is quiet, engine has adequate power, but my biggest dissapointment is the gas mileage. I have never gotten more than 27 MPG. I was expecting much better. The gearing is not good for economy, at 70 mph the engine is winding at almost 3,000 rpm and killing the mileage (I have the automatic 4 speed trans). You'd have to drive 60 mph and get run over if you want to optimize the mileage. The CRT transmission or the manual might be a better choice if you want a little better mileage.
Overall, I can't complain, but really I'm looking forward to passing the car onto my son when he turns 16 so I can get me a better car.
2008 Chevrolet Impala - SS with the 305 HP V8 was my close second choice to the Versa. I chose the Versa due to gas prices, now I am kicking myself since the Versa doesn't even get much better than the awesome V8 musclecar (24 mpg)....read morehide

- New car smells like bacon... Car is a waste of wheels
- Brakes are loud and squeaky, dangerous blindspot when reversing, loud, gas mileage is a lie.
Brakes sound like something a pig would do if it was still alive at a slaughterhouse. Usually I turn heads in my vehicles because I’m deead sexy but with this car (Wilbur) I turn heads in annoyance. The brakes are really annoying and squeak really loudly. The dealership doesn’t care about this problem either....read morehide

- Good gas mileage. Roomy. Excellent price.
- Have problems with the driver door closing properly sometimes. Air is weak. Needs arm rest.
Leaves marks on trim inside. Would like to have purchased one with a locked glove box. I used to have problems starting my car also, but got that problem fixed. It took a while for the part to come in, but it was worth the wait.

- CUTE, GOOD FUEL ECONOMY, ROOMY, FOLDING BACK SEATS.
- Tire pressure sensor is too sensitive.
I've beening driving this car about 3months. I love it and so does my husband who didn't agree to buy such a small car at first.
Since the gas is high, we leave our minivan at home and use this car for shopping and everything. When I bought a lawn mower from Home Depot and the machine fited after the backseats folded. I could not do that with my old Civic.
It was a good choice considering money....read morehide

- Good appearance, economic, excellent interior space.
- Very noisy breaks. Clanging started at 2K miles and the dealer has not fix it yet at 13k miles.
Many visits to the service department and the breaks sounds still there. I am getting tired of this and the overall satisfaction is becoming lower.

Nissan-Renault have made a car who should have a great future...Some "bugs" have to be fix with the electronic but in general love the car, with the 6 speed manual transmission. It reminds me of the Renault Clio her little sister...Sold in Europe......read morehide
