Bought this car a month ago with 400 miles on it. I like driving it however that's not the reason why I bought it. I bought it to help save on gas. I did own a 2008 PT Cruiser which i averaged 360 miles to the tank which was a 15 gallon tank. The Versa is a 13.4 gallon tank and all I am averaging is 300 miles to the tank. I am mainly a freeway driver. The MPG's to the Versa is 24/32. I am not anywhere close to this! I can usually get 220 to the first half tank but then it seems to guzzle down the 2nd half tank. purchased new in 2007 I have 68,000 miles just getting ready to replace the brakes for the first time care is super reliable normal maintenance every 3,000 to 3,500 miles tire ware is a hit or miss the continental tires that came with the car lasted a little over 35,000 not bad switched to Falcons not a good tire for the Versa tire ware was very quick will be replacing with Bridgestone Ecopia EP 422 has a 65,000 mile tire life will let you know. This car has been one of the most reliable and fun to drive with very little cost and maintenance. I drove a 2005 BMW 325cic before I purchased my Versa my wife drove a 2005 Nissan Armada GLE and traded it for a 2007 Nissan Sentra. Needed to save on gas prices. I was surprised when I test drove the versa when I took the Armada in for an oil change by how much room was in the car and how the car was rather quick for such a small car. The lease on the BMW was just about up and was thinking of purchasing the car but I kept on thinking of the versa. A week later I was looking at the maintenance cost of the BMW and thought it was rather high and I did a lot of driving at the time so I went back to Nissan and drove the car again and fell in love with the little thing. Very glad I purchased this car. I have seen funny stories on how bad and cheap the car is how unreliable the car is and on some cases if you ask the owners if thy maintained the car properly most will tell you no thy think the car should be reliable weather thy change the oil or rotate the tires in a timely matter or not. This is most of the bad reviews on all cars if you take care of your car it will take care of you. Some cares have problems more then others weather you take care of the car or not. If you are reading reviews the first ones I look at are the bad reviews and if I can will ask the owners if thy took care of the car properly or not most the time just by reading you can tell this but some times it does not hurt to ask. That I think is the proper way to research a car that you are considering buying. Also watch out for people who write bad or even good reviews and thy never even owned the cars thy are reviewing. But for this little car I will buy another used as a second car or a new one pending on how much thy change the design next year. I bought my versa used and I love it! I've been getting 30mpg city and it costs a fraction to fill of that my mountianeer did! Handles well, fun to drive, pretty good bass in the stereo system, spacious interior for a small car, and I haven't had any major problems. Only bad things I can say about it are little things, bumper shook a little loose, in excessive wind the car wobbles a little, standard wipers arent that great. But overall I love it! I purchased my car two weeks ago. I owned a Dodge Caravan for nine years, and wanted something different. A car that is good on gas, accessible, and I found it in the Nissan Versa. I went close to two weeks without having to put gas in the car. Then I start really driving, and it's still good on gas. I am in love with my versa! I just recently bought it, and its awesome. It was very affordable. It drives great and picks up the speed. I drove over 200 miles the first day I had it, and had not used a half a tank, so great fuel economy. This car is also very spacious. I wish the back itself had a little more room, but its still great. Been reading up on some stuff about the 2012 versa, and there have been 2 recalls. One for the shifter, its shifts automatically out of park, and one for the airbags not deploying. So far no problems though, and I haven't received a notice for it being on my model.
