I bought a 2004 Ex used in July 09 with 34k from Sterling McCall Toyota/Nissan in Houston. I-4 2.4l 5 speed man, ac, cd,no power anything very basic - $9000 out the door. I flew to Houston (1200 miles from home) over 4th of July weekend, picked up my sister and had a great adventure coming back to Indiana. Ran like a champ though top end speed is around 85 mph and the engine is screaming - cruises well at 70. I fit fine and I'm 6-03 over 300lbs as driver, never tried rear seat but two teenagers fit fine. Installed new stereo when my Nissan unit would not eject a cd after getting home. Will install a ceiling dvd player when I figure how I want to install it. Looks manly, runs great, tows 4000 lbs which is enough for me and pop-up camper or motorcycle trailer if needed. I miss the creature comforts of power windows and locks but it a great car, cheap parts, easy to work on, looks great right from the factory with tube steps, and roof rack - it holds wet clothes and a cooler very nicely - even bags of ice going back to the campground. You will like it. Storage compartments are nice - it is a simple straight forward design built for use. Nissan did a great job on this one and it carried over the other product offerings. I like it - great value, hope to have in another 15 years for the kids....read morehide

I purchased my 2wd Xterra X about 2 months ago and couldn?t be happier. I purchased the base model with the only option of automatic transmission. I was able to negotiate the price to under 20k and feel I got a fair deal. I have no regrets choosing the 2wd model over the 4wd as the VDC/traction control system works well (although being in the Midwest it was extremely hard to find the 2wd I was looking for). So far I have no major complaints, the car rides well, is easy to drive, and has plenty of room for all my gear. As long as you don?t accelerate hard you should get decent mileage for an suv (I have been averaging 19 city and 25 hwy ? honestly). I knew getting the x model it wouldn?t have much but I do wish it would have an ipod adapter built in. Sometimes it can be had to see when backing up, but other than that it has been great. I have also been getting a ton of complements on how sweet my car looks!...read morehide

- True SUV, a truck, not a weenie wannabe fragile FWD

Some of the other reviews are laughable. Apparently some bought the more spartan trim then complain it doesn't have the features they didn't purchase or complain service wasn't to their satisfaction but they accepted it. Surely anyone with average intelligence should be able to separate a malcontent's opinion from an honest review. The Xterra is 2 tons of high riding rugged truck with good mileage for it's class and more power than you're ever likely to need or use. Acceleration is amazing for a V6...Runs like a V8. Buy it and eliminate wheel alignments, axel and shock replacements ect inherant with a FWD....read morehide

- Very comfortable - roomy - Fun to drive!
- Minor Complaint: Dirt collects in the runners inside the back section

I own a 2006 specifically for my dogs (2) to have a place to lay down. I call it my "dogmobile"! All three of us love it. My choice was prompted by the smaller SUV styling to haul things when I have the need. Purchased new, I got all I wanted: color (I was very specific), a few amenities, & a great price & I also get pretty good gas mileage. When I can, I will be purchasing the newest model just like the one I currently own....read morehide
