Great Sporty Car

by Tom from Colorado Springs, CO (7/05/08)
Pros:Better than advertised gas mileage; great sound system; nice overall ride
Cons:Small trunk; black interior (hard to keep clean)

Pretty powerful for only 200 hp. Great gas mileage and very comfortable ride for small car. Miss my Avalanche (except fill-up time).

Only issue is summer tires during snow...will get you there but slides and spins.

Performing the job it was bought to do.

by Martin from Jefferson, Ga (7/01/08)
Pros:Fuel economy, materials used, past reliability
Cons:Steering,

I chose this car over the Elantra due to the more expensive appearance of the materials and the side by side comparisons. It takes my Wrangler off the road and 14 MPG and has replaced it with 30.5. I hope it gets higher later. The car is great everywhere except the interstate. The steering wanders and it requires constant correction. It may be the grooves in the roadway due to the semi's.
Only time will tell. I leased this for two years and plan to hand them the keys and buy American next time. The 6 speed is really easy to
place back into 4th gear unless you ride the shifter along the right wall going from 5th to 6th. I think this is a good little car despite my remarks above and plan to enjoy it. It is quiet and rides soft for a car it's size. The residual was much higher than the other brands.

Good drive...but having issues after 1 month

by syl from san antonio tx (6/30/08)
Pros:sticks to the road well, not a light sporty car, but feels safe
Cons:should have been a 5-speed. 3rd and 4th are real short.

had it about a month. about to take it in for a check because it has been 'hesitating' at speeds above 60mph under regular driving conditions, as well as using the cruise control.. husband says maybe that's just the way it is....don't think so, had bad experience with fords/mercury back in the day with this same 'hesitation'....no mechanic was ever able to fix it... eventually died. i hope this is not the case here.... hopefully a quick fix. it's a good sporty car that you feel 'safe' in driving next to 18-wheelers..extremely SOLID. my husband travels a lot and he loves it. hope it's not a lemon!!

Dynamite midsize car with excellent fuel economy

by Georg Vollweiler from Alachua, Florida (6/29/08)
Pros:Good fuel economy. Comfertable seats in front and back. Excellent customer service.
Cons:I cannot think of any cons.

I parted with my Maxima and switched to the Sentra. I thought the switch would be rough on my, but I must say I adore my Sentra just as much as I did my Maxima. To my great surprise I have not missed my previous car for a second.

stylish and smooth

by Crytal from Warrensurg MO (6/24/08)
Pros:Gas mileage, features, price, styling, smart key, dealer was great
Cons:driver side air vent does not adjust enough, trunk a bit small

I have to say that I love this car. I traded in a 2005 nissan extera and thought that I would feel cramped in this car but I dont at all. It is loaded with great features like blue tooth and an audio jack for mp3 players. An onboard computer tells me my gas milage, which is great. I have had this car for over a month and I am averaging 32 mpg overall with combined city/highway driveing. The new styling on the car makes it feel like a more expensive car. The only thing I have noticed is that the driver side air vent does not adjust far enough for it to hit me, but the AC cools the car down fast so its no big deal. I do wish the truck opening was a little larger, but I knew I would feel like that coming out of an suv. I love the smart key system, its amazing. Blue tooth is another thing I love in this car. We drove the corolla and the camry as well as the civic, and for the money this car won hands down for me. This is my third nissan and every dealer has been easy to work with, for me that is important. I would buy this car again in a heartbeat. this car also has a very quiet ride.

Functional / Practical / Economical

by Dallas Commuting Family from Dallas, TX (6/23/08)
Pros:Gas mileage; timing CHAIN;Roomy; VERY SAFE CAR FOR NEW DRIVER
Cons:Floormats don't fit well; mirrors are not foldaway; some cheap looking plastics inside

Lots of people discussing pros/cons of the Sentra vs Versa vs Civic vs Corolla vs Mazda3 vs Elantra. We researched this car, and it came down to these things which I believe the Sentra does best:
1) SAFETY - it is bigger than the other cars, and thereby offers more protection to its driver; 2) VISIBILITY: the car sits higher than the others, and therefore is easier to see and be seen; 3) LONG TERM FUNCTION: it's a completely utilitarian car which is good looking now, and will be good looking 10 years from now. My teen driver will use it mostly, and she will take it to college, and when she finishes college she will still be able to have a "young adult" car which will last her for several more years after college; 4) PRICE: It has a manufacturer's rebate right now ($1500), which makes it the least expensive of the lineup; 5) MAINTENANCE: It has a timing CHAIN which does not need serviced like a timing belt does. I have had three timing belts break on 2 different cars, and it is not good. And....there are more Nissan dealers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas than any other make.

We're really fortunate to have such a great variety of cars in this segment. I would never speak ill of somebody else's decision, but am sharing my opinion. I am a Honda owner now, and had a Corolla and a Subaru Legacy previously (Legacy is THE car for anywhere that has snow). But the 2008 Nissan Sentra is the perfect, all-around car which will perform many different functions very well, and can last for the next ten years at least, I hope.

2008 Nissan Sentra a good choice to make

by Bryan K from Columbus, Ohio (6/16/08)
Pros:Good fuel economy, innovative computer
Cons:MT a bit sensitive, spoiler is ugly, bluetooth voice recognition somewhat inaccurate

The 2008 Nissan Sentra combines sleek appearance with innovative design, featuring a large glove compartment, a useful computer (trip calculations, economy, etc) and a great trunk space. The bluetooth feature for cellular phones is convenient, although when saying numbers the computer requires a very particular method or it gets them wrong. Economy is good with the MT; I averaged 34 mpg on a recent trip and about 28 in the city. Overall, this car is a wise choice to make when buying a new car.

Don't overlook Nissan. Good vehicles, good prices

by Robert from Birmingham, AL (6/11/08)
Pros:Comfortable ride for a compact, neat gadgets, tons of headroom and space
Cons:a tad bit underpowered, if doors locked with keyfob unlocking trunk with key sets off alarm

I traded in my 06" Nissan Frontier V6 (which I loved but couldn't afford gas anymore) for this little car. Fuel economy has been better than expected with a mix of city and highway. Averaging about 30mpg. The car has enough power but coming from a very strong V6 I really wish this car had alittle more power. Also, the manual shifter takes getting used to, and has clunky linkage. Overall though, I am pleased with this vehicle. It has plenty of interior room and a very nice ride for such a small car. Styling is sporty but not over the top. I have had this car for 1 1/2 months and so far haven't had any major complaints. I got a great deal and Nissan dealers are usually willing to work with you, so don't be fooled and go get a Honda or Toyota in fear of not getting a good vehicle at a good price. Give Nissan a try.

Great economy car

by Jim from Calgary Alberta Canada (6/11/08)
Pros:great looking car handles very nice and is quiet(I have undercoating, think it helps)
Cons:the centre consel is hard and alittle far back but that is getting pretty picky

I haven't fully broken the motor in yet(I hear it takes about 15-20,00km"s)so don't know the best gas mileage yet.Very happy with its performance so far.The cvt (transmition)is great
