you are my long lost brother! I agree. this is the most awesome car I have seen in 30 years. Is this the new "cobra"? tall statement, but...........

New cobra I hear will have 650 horses,....bottom line though this car turns heads. I bought mine in 2009,....aqua blue (which they made in limited quantity) with the silver rally stripes. I had cars almost swerving into me on the highway as they slowed to drool.

I've had my stock 2010-2SS (wht. w/blk. stripes) for 2-yrs now and me & the Mrs. love it. @ 426hp this car has done 153-mph on the highway (don't tell) on regular gas without a ping! I was one of the 1st to have one in my area (for altleast 6-mo.) and got the same response from the public, to say they abolutely loved it is an understatement! As far as value goes GM really out did themselves with this one. I give them an AAA+ rating for the 2010. I can only imagine what's instore for the 2013 convertible. Although alittle impracticle I am considering putting one in the stall next to "snow white". While the Mustang is a "common" proven product & the Cobra may outperfom Camaro (slightly), for style & value I'll stay w/ Chevy. Keep up the good work GM!

..Gotta admit, I usually would never spend more than 25K on a car unless it's a pre-sixties 2 door, but our new 2011 RS gives me an ear-to-ear grin that splits my face in two every time I drive it. She gets about as much thumbs ups as my '57 Bel Air, and I can almost forgive GM for all the cheap, worthless abominations they spat out from the mid-seventies all the way up to the beginning of the new millenium. Keep up the good work, GM !HINT- stick CLOSER to the CONCEPT designs !

If GM prices this below $55k, I'm in. The SS Convt is around $45k all in (what I would order) and I'd pay if this also does suspension/brake upgrade.

With the Mustang's huge hp upgrade though, does it make this a "great now, but..." model?? Much better looking than the Stang (always IMO), but if the price is comparable, I'm going for the upgrade.

Better check with your insurance company BEFORE buying it !!!
Unless you have $4000 a year to burn....

I have a 2011 SS with a dealer installed Magnusson supercharger and other work rated at 620hp and it is stupid fun to drive (with factory warranty still). Without traction control on you'll fishtail through the first 4 gears. I grew up in the muscle car era and have a owned a few but they can't touch this...and it still gets about 18mpg around town and 22-24 on the highway.

Cool. Any wheel hopping on a burnout or tire spin
    • Gary 6 months ago
Depends on technique and how you drive it. I've gone easy on the burnouts just to get some life out of the Pirellis on it which aren't cheap. I'd say you're more likely to spin than wheel hop with this setup as I've broken the tires loose punching it in 3rd gear getting on a highway. I actually never drove a stock one so I can't say how they do. My girlfriend is actually scared of it and she has a Nissan GT-R (although to be fair that car is actually more stable with the AWD and she is kind of a wuss lol).

This is one of the hottest cars out there. Love it. It has some pretty cool features too. I would so buy one if in the at least it had front wheel drive or some kind of all wheel drive. Same goes for the Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, or the Ford Mustang. None of the muscle cars they brought back have front wheel drive. Dodge did a great job on the 2011 Challenger too. Gotta give them both props for staying true to the body shape of these classic muscle cars.

Laurab** As far back as I can remember 65 years Almost any muscle car everbuilt had rear wheel drive due to the efficiency and physics of all that horsepower. If you put it in a FRONT WHEEL drive it would be very difficult to control all that power to those front wheels. And you would be twisting and braking front axes etc. GM even built the Cady CTS V and STS V which are high power sedans as rear wheel drive. GM is starting to put 300 HP in some front wheel drives like Buick Lacross and the new XTS.

  • Douglas  •  6 months ago
These are the future "good old days" of the muscle car era. I have waited all my life for them to build true muscle cars again-but this is better than I had ever dreamed. Now lets all go buy one so they keep doing it! Thanks AMERICAN auto manufacturers for getting it right!
