- Pros
- Well balanced for a car in its class
- Cons
- Sensitive steering and some items are a bit basic
If you are looking for a good looking, reliable, efficient, economical sporty mid sized 4 door sedan, The V6 3.4 model is the one to consider. It has good handling and a sporty feel for a car of its class. I am pleased with mine as it is a good compromise and I can see myself keeping this car for five years without any worries.
One can always find something negative about a car. There is really no reason for doing so with this one. There may be some other makes and models that may have slightly better features than the V6 Grand Am but I cannot imagine that overall they are better! I would be surprised if anyone is disappointed for a car in this class unless there need to go to a higher class than will cost more in many ways!...read morehide1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Lots of power, comfortable with 2 carseats in the back
- Cons
- cheap trim around the sunroof
I just purchased this car about 3 weeks ago, Ive already put almost 1,000 miles on it cause I cant stay out of it. Ive always loved Pontiacs, Ive already owned 3 (78 Trans Am, 81 Phoenix, 91 Sunbird.) Ive always liked the Grand Am, looked at them several times, but went with something else because of my husband.
Anyways so far I love it, Im 6 ft, my husband is 6 4" and theres enough leg room for us. I also have 2 kids, and the carseats fit fine, I can still even fit a small child in the middle. My husband is a truck man, and he even loves it (though he doesnt admit it much.)
The 2 cons Ive figured out is the trim around the sunroof is cheap, and its like the headliner is cut to big, but Im sure it will be fine. And with the v6 Im only getting about 23 mpg, but its winter so Im sure that will go up 4 or 5 when its warm. But its better than my 11mpg Suburban!!!!
Im back with Pontiac, this time Im staying! There is nothing better than stepping on the gas, and seeing the needles go up with the red/orange dash lights behind it!...read morehide3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- great gas mileage i put about 500 miles per week and spend less on gas than i did with my chevy
- Cons
- driving in winter weather, car fishtails a lot
I used to have the 1999 grand am gt and loved it, but it was my fathers car and he leased it. So I had to give it back, but I always said I'm getting my PONTIAC back I loved it so much. So this November I bought a 2004 grand am gt. Not even 4 weeks after I bought it (didn't even make the first payment) I hit black ice and crashed into a tree. I'm not one to talk badley about my grand am but I had about 9,000 dollars worth of damage to my car and my air bags didn't even go off. I was taken to the hospital where i had stitches in my mouth cause my teeth went through my lip and a fractured jaw from my face hitting the steering wheel. everything is still under investagation as to why the airbags didn't go off but i'll keep you posted. In the mean time get them checked just to make sure! if you have any comments please contact me at xxchevygirl91xx@yahoo.com. my other car is a chevy :-)...read morehide

- Pros
- roomy, comfortable,
- Cons
- fan in cooling system blew, heater hose broke in desert, can't align high beam.
I have only had the car for only one year and I have never had so much problems with a new car as this one in such a short time. I think American's quality reputation is hurt by this unreliable car. I think I may trade it in for a new Saturn or even a Toyota. Steve
in addition after three tries at the dealership they are unable to aim the high beam in the right direction....read morehide0 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

- Great car for the money!
Well built, fun to drive, handles well, instumentation design very nice and easy to see. Very comfortable on long trips. Larger than expected trunk space. Under hood refills (oil, water, washer fluid) nicely marked and easy to find. Interior roomier than most cars of same class. Of the seven brand-new cars I've purchased in my time this is probably the best car for the money. Highly recommend....read morehide

Cramped inside, power is lacking compared to the Chrysler Sebring Sedan and materials seem cheap. So, I bought the Chrysler. Even though, the Grand Am styling is better than the Japanese brands, it's simply not up to Chrysler quality and styling in my mind.

this popular rental car has nothing of substance that lifts it above many worthy competitors.the ride is tolerable, and handling is crisp.it comes with a 2.2L 4-cylinder engine and optional 3.4L V6. front seat are soft and unsupportive.

Recently purchased my second Grand Am. Purchased my first back in 95. I bought it with the 3100 V6. Never had any problems with it. The 2004 has the 3400 V6 in it, and i don't expect any problems with it. These cars provide excellent acceleration and better than average reliability. When compared to other cars for the same price, the Grand Am is the best choice. I know cars with the same options that cost 4000 to 5000 dollars more.....Grand Am...the smart choice!!!...read morehide
