- Monster Acceleration & Aggressive Look
- Doesnt handle bumps in the road well
Purchased As Used
I love this car, I just got my Grand Prix GxP 3days ago. It is an 07 wit only 7,xxx miles on it. It had monster acceleration and handles like a pro. The 1 and only gripe that I have about this car is the way at which it takes bumps and uneven spots in the road. It seems 2 be worse the slowere you go like during normal city driving about 35mph. I think I may need 2 replace my shock or somthn 2 smooth it out alittle bit. Other than that this an awesome car well Beast I should say n I give it 4 out of 5....read morehide

- Fuel economy (compared to GTP), power, brakes, stereo (is decent, when CD changer doesn't error)
- 6-disc in-dash changer doesn't always want to play the first time (or two)
This is my third Pontiac in a row. I had an '00 Trans Am WS6 conv with the 6-speed manual--LOVED IT! Then someone had to plow into the back of it! I bought a brand new '02 40th Anniversary edition Grand Prix GTP coupe--which had almost 110k miles on it, when I traded it for the '07 GXP last year. Overall, I'm very pleased with it's performance, maintenance, roominess, etc. Tires can be a pain to get--OEM or other brand in the 18" size. Without a spare, I had to overnight a new tire, when the driver side rear "developed" a diagonal cut in the treads, to avoid getting soaked on rental charges. If this car was available with the 6-speed MT, it would be a lot better!...read morehide

- Power, decent handling, good instrument layout, well made - good frame design
- A little harsh (not terrible) on transversial ridge bumps like road expansion seams
In a nutshell, I love this car. It's certainly not perfect, but it really is a nice car -decent handling, though certainly not like my '00 Camaro which is kind of like a sure footed cat in comparison while not exactly abiding the law speed-wise. The Grand Prix pretty much handles things like sharp curves and parkway exits at, say, 40- 50 mph, really about as well as the Camaro, but if you're driving faster than you should be anyway, know that this car is going to understeer just a bit on a tight, high speed bend, unlike the Camaro, which stays perfectly flat & stable, practically no matter what you do. Nevertheless, this GXP pony is pretty much a road rocket when pressed, and the tranny is very smooth and pretty smart- it's hard to fake it out by suddenly backing off the gas just as it's about to upshift like with the older, non-computer controlled trannies that would sort of trip over themselves in the process and you'd briefly lose your thrust. Also, the `Active Fuel Management...read morehide

- Looks great, Drives and handles well, Tons of nice features.
- Gas milage, small back seat.
I love this car with my whole heart, and I honestly believe it is the best purchase I ever made. I call it the monster becasue it sounds great when you start it up and the front of it looks mean. When I drive it I get tons of looks and I feel like I own the road!

- Fun to drive, alright fuel econ, comfortable ride
- Gas mileage, cant rotate tires, and tires are $$ to replace
I love my car and drive it mostly highway miles here in orlando going 100 miles a day to and from work commuting. Have driven 37,000 miles so far in a year and the only downside I have is the tires. I need new tires and that will set u back about 800 total. There are not many alternatives since the front are different sizes then the rear. Plus they are hard to come by and pricey. 220 for the front and 205 for the rear. And since they are different sizes YOU CANT ROTATE YOUR TIRES....
Other than that I am getting about 27 HWY MPG in my GXP and the range according to my trip computer is about 370 Miles per tank, but the low fuel comes on with about 40 to 50 miles to go...
But then again, have driven from Orlando to Atlanta and need one stop (prob about 50 miles beyond valdosta) to fuel up. of course if u drive 55 on the hwys u can really extend the miles but common WHO IS GOING TO DRIVE 55 in this car...lol
Overall I love my GXP...read morehide

- Fabulous - extremely fast - a real looker w/red brake calipers - love DOD
- High performance suspension - this is NOT a Cadillac DTS - love it.
Extremely fast. Just added a K&N cold air intake and opened up the exhaust to a full 2.5 inches all the way out, both sides. Love my car. Ivory w/san leather - everything but navigation system. Very exclusive due to low production numbers. Under rated and shamefully overlooked by those shopping such models as the Lincoln MKZ, for example. Will change to Bridgeston RE050A Pole Positions when that time arrives. Averaging 17.6 mpg over the first 5200 miles mostly mixed city driving and not exactly using a light foot. Details beautifully, red brake calipers, yellow Bilstien shocks, chrome 18" wheels, etc. Recommend Turtle Wax "Ice" polish. BEST vehicle I've owned - period. And I'm 64 and had quite a few over the years. Oh yes. Population 250,000 - 3 GXP's. Mine, a black one and a liquid silver one (both have the black leather interiors). Exclusivity at it's best. Oh yes. YEA to OnStar and XM. Freedom Pontiac/Buick/GMC in Odessa TX rates #1 in my opinion. Great folks. Spotless, gorgeous facility....read morehide

- It looks great. It sounds impressive with a screaming engine. It WILL GO!
- I rented it and did not want to return it. It is respected on the road.
When I was at the red light, I hit the gas immediately when the light turned green. And, I tried it again. Each time, I had all traffic waiting behind me by over a block...showing their respect. It has an impressive giddyupandgo from zero. I wasn't speeding, but everyone showed their respect. It is a COOL car....read morehide

- Good ol' V8 sound and power, XM and 9-spkr system great, reasonable economy for such a hot rod.
- Seems a little tighter inside than our 98GT
Oh, it's fun to have a V8 again. And, it's wrapped up in a pretty good package. Don't see much need for 5-6-7-speed automatics when you've got the torque that's available here. The whole power thing lets you drive a little bit differently; you're not moving up to a steadily closing opening, you're already there.
I like the XM and the 6-CD stereo; first car we've had with OnStar; not much experience with it yet, but seems like a good idea. Have the HUD on the 98GT and loved it. The new and improved incarnation is even better, more informative, and easier to read.
We looked at the SS Impala and the CTS; Chevy didn't compare engineering-wise or style-wise, and CTS's just cost too much; a CTS-V would have been another 10K easy.
Two weeks ours, we took it on a 3500 mile vacation out East. Averaged 25.8 MPG at an average speed of 58MPH, and we were in cities and traffic as much or more than on the interstates.
I like the gadgetry that'll show you trans fluid temp, your lateral accelerations since last reset, tire pressures, dual trip meters, avg speed/mpg, actual mpg, engine hours, etc. Hard to detect the four cylinders cutting out when cruising. Love the engine sound; this ain't no super-quiet Buick; supposedly Pontiac left out some of the rear sound deadening so that you can hear that exhaust sound. Oh, yeah, that sounds good.
Dealer loaned me an Accord while they did a paint and interior protect deal. Accords are like appliances; pretty boring. Anyway, loved our 98, and the 07 is way better than that. Still have the 98 with 128K and counting; expect this new one to be around at least that long....read morehide

- Handling like a RWD, Supercharger, Roomy, Brakes, & a lot more.
- MPG in the city (worth it though, its just too fun not to drive to the max)
This car is a rocket. Plain and simple, this is a wrongfully overlooked car that deserves the attention the 3 series Beamer and other cars twice the price often garner. Virtually no oversteer and feels like a rwd or awd drive on corners. True, looks arent quite up to par, but for a sedan that seats ive comfortably, its a small price to pay. The stigma of Faulty American Mechanics is completely voided- this car is utterly reliable. Great all around, and cannot beat the price, esp when lightly used. A great car, and sportiness to match!...read morehide
