I got to drive an automatic solstice at the Bondurant school in Phoenix, Arizona. The car only had 3,000 miles on it, so I feel my review will be accurate. I got to drive the car in a way most people never would dream of; around a 1/8 mile track, a slalom course, and a flat out autocross track.
Exterior: As far as the exterior, its great, can't miss this car, 5 stars.
Interior: The interior however, could use a little work. I felt a little cramped (6'1") and some the window control buttons were placed so far back I struggled to roll down the windows. Also, there was no cup holders visible in the car.
Performance: The solstice with its inline 4, is way underpowered. Try as I might I could never get the back tires to break loose or even chirp. Granted it was an auto, but still underpowered in my opinion. When getting up to speed, it held the gears out pretty long, and acceleration was fair. Im sure the supercharged version would have been amazing!
Handling: I was impressed with the overall handling of the car. On the tight turns of the 1/8 track, I was being thrown against the door, but the car stayed true around the corners.
Braking: Because of its relative small size, braking from 45mph was impressive. I was able to control the car even when the abs kicked in.
Conclusion: I love the styling and looks of the car. Performance could be improved, as well as the interior. Overall its a fun car for all ages, and I would even consider buying one myself if I hadn't already purchased a mustang!! :)
