Pontiac Vibe GT. Great Performance / Economy !

by Jerry Normandin from Swansea, MA USA (8/31/08)
Pros:Great Performance /Economy Combo
Cons:Paint could be a bit more durable, but dealer made good and fixed it!

I commute 500 miles/week. When unleaded regular hit 4.55/gal I traded in my 2006 AWD Honda Element EXP for a Pontiac Vibe GT. I get about 32MPG If I "Hypermile" as I did with the Element. The Element's "BEST" mpg was 24MPG. If I drive the Vibe GT "like I stole it", 29 MPG. The Monsoon Stereo is great! I got the car in Mystic Blue, it's a head turner. If you want a fun car to drive, great fuel economy with room for your stuff for those road trips... I highly recommend this car.

A 'LOOKER' THAT DELIVERS GREAT SPACE

by Bill A. from Ottawa, Canada (7/12/08)
Pros:Great sporty little car. A "looker" with a surprising amount of space inside.
Cons:Lots of cheap looking plastic components on the inside.

Am just today completing my first month of ownership of a loaded Vibe GT. This a big change as I have just stepped-out of a Pontiac Solstice after 21/2 years. After 30 days, I remain quite satisfied with the car, and based on my experience so far would have no hesitation in recommending it, (or obviously its twin: Toyota Matirx). Good value for the dollar. Decent gas mileage and a nifty appearance. Bravo to GM's Pontiac brand for picking a winner in this partnership with Toyota and overall not just running with it...but probably improving the basic Matrix platform in the process by including its OnStar brand and XM Radio.

Great Price Great Car

by Z Barrett from Canada (6/24/08)
Pros:good power and fuel economy, great sporty looks, xm radio, manual shift mode
Cons:ride can be bumpy at times, plastic interior

great car, its my mothers and she loves it! replaced an SUV which got horrible fuel economy. she finds it WAY easier to drive and manuever. she loves the XM radio, the sporty looks (18" chrome rims, air vent, side skirts, chrome exhaust, etc), sunroof is nice. were getting EXCELLENT fuel economy. hopefully the FWD will stand up to canadian winters. overall, great price for a great litte vehicle. not bad cargo room either bythe way

Great Style, comfort and features - great car!

by Craig B. from Spokane, WA (6/21/08)
Pros:Good fuel economy - combined average 27 mpg, rides & handles well
Cons:no 5 spd auto available with the AWD version, cheap looking wheel covers

Overall, I'm quite impressed and pleased witht the car. It handles and rides very well, plenty of power, XM radio is nice and has MP3 jack.
Seats are comfortable and supportive, there's an amazing amount of backseat legroom. 2 adults can ride very comfortably in the back seat. With the back seat down there's a decent sized cargo area with a flat floor. Compared with the other cars in this class I looked at, the Vibe seemed like a great value and a nicer all around package.

Really like the 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT 2.4L

by Jess from DFW, TX (6/03/08)
Pros:Handles Great, Fuel economy good, XM radio, stereo and air conditioning excellent
Cons:Center console is too big, crowds the knee a bit on big folks.

Really like the new 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT model, previous car was an SUV that used more fuel then it should, in comparison this car is fun to drive and has a good balance of power / economy / comfort. Getting 27 mpg actual in overall useage right now. Have driven the car 5,900 miles so far (in 6 weeks! - commuting to a temporary job.
The 2.4 Liter motor has plenty of power and torque for this car, and with the 5 speed trans, it has very good driveability. I don't see any advantage to the touch shift setup, but it doesn't have a downside, so what the heck.

You'll Love it!

by karensay from Elgin, SC (5/29/08)

the back seat has so much room, I was surprised. We fit 3 children in carseats comfortably in the back. Lots of compartments to store things. back seats fold down making lots of trunk room. I have 105K on my 2003 and LOVE it!

Great on gas mileage and smooth ride

by Suri from NC (5/22/08)
Pros:Good fuel, quiet, satellite radio, seat can be adjusted vertically, roomy...
Cons:Can't see the back while backing up

I traded my truck for this vibe because of the good gas mileage. One thing I realized is that I wasn't able to see while backing up.. Hmm, perhaps am use to driving a truck... Anyway, I've been driving my vibe to work for couple of days now. I'll say that it's very comfortable although I have to agree with one reviewer about the headrest. It's kind of stiff when I put my head on it. Other than that, the vibe's design is attractive and it's nice... I like it!!

Painful headrests

by scrog from Indiana (5/15/08)

We ordered a vibe today. During the test drive my wife commented that the headrests were so uncomfortable that they made her neck very sore, so much so that when we got home she had to take a pain pill and go to bed. I also thought they were very uncomfortable. We told the dealer this and he took the headrests off and reversed them (front facing backward). This did make them much better. Has anyone else noticed how uncomfortable they are?

I like it and the AWD option

by joe from buffalo, NY (5/15/08)
Pros:fuel economy, all wheeel drive, xm radio, suppose to be very reliable, airbags, traction control
Cons:needs little more front leg room, remote start option,

I just got my vibe may13, 08, I test drove the 2009 during a past snow storm, it did very good. I like the look, style, gas milleage. I love the satelite radio and sterio itself, nice interior but could use a little more front leg room. Front seat as someone said before needs some adjusting to get it right
