What a machine..... I love the way the car hugs you as you drive it around town feeling every amazing moment..... The storage space is some what lacking, but is not like you are going on a vacation with your family with it.

I have an '07 Carrera S. Great car. I have more appreciation for the car after taking the Porsche Sport Driving Course in Birmingham at Barber Racetrack where I drove the 911 and 911s on the track. Unbelievable handling. No body roll. Solid structure.
Don't get the navigation system (over $2k). It's much worse than a Garmin and is very expensive. Also, don't get the electronically adjustable seats (over $1.5k). They add weight to the car, and are an expensive option. Manual seats are fine, especially if only one person ever drives the car. Use the money saved from the navigation and seats to get other options, such as the sports exhaust or maybe an upgrade to a 4s....read morehide

I picked up an 05 997 S Certified w/ extended warranty for 66K. Only 10k miles and I'm soo glad that I didn't end up paying 95K for an 07. I guess I got away with a killer deal. I'd recommend Certified pre-owned.
The sound of the engine....nothing sounds like it. The 997 turns heads just by the way it sounds. Amazing performance. Its so difficult to drive this car slow. The interior is so much more sexier than the 996 I used to have. The metalic silver with black interior & white gauges is a nice combo. Stitched leather seats are nice....read morehide

- Styling is nice and it moves out quickly from a dead stop. Steering is designed well.
- Substandard interior-Porsche warranty not valid on interior parts. Very rough ride.
Beware, Porsche will not warranty any of there interior parts and most are substandard for the price you pay. The plastic interior door handle finish wears off in a year or less. They told me it was because of the chemicals in soaps and hand lotions today. They called it normal wear!!!This 911 had less then 9k mile on it and only a year old. Also, review the other plastic interior parts that seem to look like aluminum. All are paint coated finish over substandard plastic. How cheap can you get!!!! My TV control is of better quality.The Mercedes, BMW and Lexus have functional interiors of better quality. They also stand by there warranty's as I have personally experienced....read morehide

This is Porsche number 4 for me since 1974. It is far away the best Porsche I've ever owned. I rack up a lot of miles on my cars, already have 21,000 on my 06 997S Cabrio. Porsche has 65 pages of options for you to choose from when you order your car. Granted, that a la carte ordering method will quickly add up to real money, it's the way to get what you truly will use and enjoy. (Mine wound up north of a 997 Turbo). Seriously consider the PCCB--ceramic brakes. Virtually no dust, a significant reduction in unstrung weight, and handling improvements. Also, think about custom ordering some color other than silver or black. Porsche's paint department is very capable. I chose a rare color and am pleased to have the only one in the world in that color for now. I also went with a hardtop, rarely ordered today, but it makes the car into a coupe in about 8 minutes.
The bottom line is this. If you have any time behind the wheel of a 911 from the past, you will be an expert in the 997. Porsche went out of their way to make these things handle like a well made racecar. 30 series tires add you in the turns, and 355 horsepower is more than enough to do anything you could possibly want to do. Don't even think about buying a Turbo if you live in the States,--it's overkill. (I've had mine over 180 mph, when breaking it in on the autobahn). The navigation system works fairly well, although it performs better in Europe, for Europeans (with real-time traffic advisories). Seriously consider a European Delivery for the car, but know in advance that gas will run you about $6.50 a gallon for Super over there!...read morehide

Simply the best.
After having driven other porsches, such as cayman s, boxster, 924, 944 turbo etc... I finally got my own, 911 (997) C2S.
It took me a long time to decide between the rear-drive s and the 4s which is awd. Conclusion: the awd is plain useless. mechanical grip and handling are probably the best in the world or at least the best you'll get under $300 000, so awd is only good for snow or the kind of amateur drivers who would buy this car automatic.
Braking is phenomenal, acceleration allows you to feel the perfectly calculated and smooth torque & power curves. the sound is utterly addictive and the car is, inside & out, by far the best looking 911 ever.
They did a great job.
Some say there are too many options but i place that in the pros, i wanted my 911 to be unique since there are so many on the road.
gas mileage is very decent for a car of such subliminal performance.
around a track, it will easily show the Viper/vette/exige how it's done.
The grip, i have to say again is astonishing, you will drive like Schumacher with 1%of his skill, however, do be careful if u get the chance to drive this car, it does not pardon drivers that are too sure of themselves.
10/10 best sports car to own because the alue is amazing, the usability is high and the durability sets landmarks....read morehide

There is nothing like a Porsche 911 (997) S. Everything is "just right". Not too much power, not too much noise -- everything is tuned to create an amazing driving sensation. Whether it is a trip down the street or 4 hours to the beach house or 18 hours to Maine, the car never fails to exhilerate me. I've owned several Porsches -- I would recommend the "S" for the extra torque. Make certain to get some of the required options -- self-dimming mirrors, Adaptive seats, upgrades Bose surround sound radio. Some of the others are great to have -- but aren't worth the significant added cost -- Nav and ceramic brakes (but if you want to stop on a dime, these are the brakes to have!).

The S is a perfect daily driver. I've never driven a turbo, but the power of the S is probably enough for me. The only reason one would probably want the turbo is to be 99.9% sure you can smoke anybody on the road. With the S you have about a 97% chance. It's easy to go 125mph and not even really notice it. The ride is excellent. Corners are a breeze. If you want a daily driver as a sportscar I don't think an S can be beat. If you want a weekend sports car the Ferrari F430 would be my recommendation....read morehide

- Fuel rconomy is ok, but I use 92-3 octane
- Brakes are trmendous, no noise
I've owned other Porsches, but this is by far my favorite. No need for a Turbo as this car is quick, fast, handles like a chard, and is quite reliable. I also have a Mercedes CLS 55 AMG, but when the sun is shining and its 75-85 degrees outside, the 911s Cabriolet cannot be beat.

I just got my 07 911 S and I love the car. I drive it on the weekends in San Diego and I love it . Very fun and sexy car... I will always own a 911...Porsche did a wonderful job redesigning this car. It is one of the best!! Now I want the Turbo!!
