my car is 2000 Boxster S, owned for 6+ years. I also have 2007 911 Turbo and I drive the Boxster S much more often. In the real world streets the S has more than enough performance, plus the smaller size and 2 trunks is actually more practical. I have had one ticket in the Boxster, and got a Valentine radar detector, but I just slow down now. I recommend the S without hesitation and will keep it.
Major issues: Rear main seal fix took almost a week, but done within warranty. Had a cooling leak that was fixed. Battery tends to die if you do not run the car every two weeks minimum, o/w get a trickle charger. PZero Pirellis last like 9000 miles tops. Auto window pop down for closing the door broke and the fix was 1200 bucks. Out of pocket post warrranty repairs will be painful.
But in summary, I love this car.
