2006 Saab 9-5 Sedan User Reviews
- I like how the headlights are surrounded by chrome. It gives this car a unique look.
- This car is way to small. I can't stand the noises it makes, and it is way to low to the ground.
I don't like this car.The air conditioned seats are loud and they are only in the front, not the back. The back seems to be a total let down to me. The heated seats are only on the two window seats. The air conditioning is absolutely horrible, and the leather interior is very hard to clean and I think that it looks fake. The service on mine was also a disaster. At about 10,00 miles, my Saab started doing all kinds of weird things.
the speaker was popping out in the front, the rubber on the knobs was peeling, the backseat air conditioner was worse than ever, and the left back door was having problems opening and closing. So I took my Saab for service, and I told the dealership that I wanted a rental car. I got there, no rentalcar, so I had to ride a shuttle bus all around town. The people at the service department told me that they would wash my car, fix all the problems, and change the oil. I got back and all they had done was change the oil.The Saabis not a nice car in my opinion, and it is not worth $40,000. Idon't reccomend thatyou buy or lease this car....read morehide

- Fun, head-turner, great fuel economy, pass-through trunk, acceleration
- Soft suspension, poor fuel economy, trunk release, owners manual
An odd car. My 3rd SAAB, so I know they are all odd. This car is fun to accelerate from 30-70, but a dog from 0-30. In Sport mode, MPG = 20. In Normal mode, MPG = 27. Cruise control at 65 mph, MPG = 36.5! The suspension is great for banked turns, but will not settle in to flat or turtle-back curves, not even at 30 mph. The trunck is only remote operated. You can't just walk up and open it. I have had it in the shop 2 times already for electrical and mechanical failure, with less than 1,000 miles on it. I am taking it in again this week for a radio glitch. The dealership is great, but the car has been in the shop a quarter of the first month of ownership. It's fun, sporty, good looking, but, as yet, too quirky and unreliable, even for a SAAB. As an aside, the owners manual is inaccurate in a couple of places, and unclear in several others. Nothing major, just another reason to doubt how long I will have this car. Still, there is nothing like a SAAB. They have the guts to build a car with real personality....read morehide

- Fast, nicely redesigned, don't see too many of them on the road, easy to spot on a croweded street
- 5-speed manual very unusual
I don't own a Saab. But I've driven one before on more than one occasion. My impressions of the car were really positive. The seats were comfortable. I was able to sit upright. Plenty of power flowed from the turbo engine. A couple of times I found myself at 85mph and it felt as if I were going about 65mph. So the ride comfort is excellent. I loved how the ignition was mounted between the front seats. I really loved starting it up every time I sat inside. My own reall complaint is the 5-speed manual's shift pattern. I mean you shift into reverse to take the key out. Then in addition to doing that you have to pull a lever on the bottom of the gear knob to go in reverse. It got a little irritating at times. But I think I'd prefer automatic with Saab. Overall this is a great car. I drove it in California. My grandma is a Saab fan and I going to turn into one as well when I purchase my first Saab vehicle in the future....read morehide

- Handling and speed. The heated seats will heat you up fast.
- Too expensive.
I drove a Saab 9-5 for the first time and I was hooked to it. I rented this car last month from Enterprise Rent-A-Car for 1 week. This car has the best handling suspension and tires against any other vehicle I had ever driven. It was so fast, I took it to 140 mph and I felt that I was only driving 100 mph. Also the car seats were so comfortable that I felt I was sitting on a massage chair the whole time when I was driving. I agree when Saab says when people test drive a Saab, they usually buy one. When it was time to return the Saab 9-5, I was thinking 1 week wasn't enough pleasure, a lifetime will....read morehide

- fuel economy
- Value is poor
I just unloaded a 2004 9-5 Aero after several electrical problems. None under warranty! Saab America was very difficult to deal with. The icing on the cake was I only had offers of wholesale (11K) when I went to unload this thing, Dealers wouldn't even consider an offer of higher than wholesale in several markets. Punchline is the car is worht less than 30% of what I paid for it after two years. I finally unloaded it and bought a Honda Accord. The lesson for me was don't beleive the Saab hype. Beyond the engine the car is a piece of junk!...read morehide

- fuel economy - new look - turns heads
- no nav system with xm radio - ventelated seats are noisy
I love this car ,my 2nd saab. I purchased the auto and love it great trans and you can shift if you need to, I am very disapointed in the fact I had to choose the xm radio or nav sysytem , and why is onstar
an option , i had it in my last car and loved the hands free phone form onstar . over all I love the car it has power any time you ask , ride is firm but not harsh , forget bmw and mb I have owed bolth and the saab runs away from them , saab is a car you relly love as you spend time with them. my advice , get a sport with standard sport seats , get onstar , and xm , dont wast money on the vented seats they work ok not great, and with 2 frt seats going you cant hear the stereo with out cranking it up....read morehide

- TURBO!TURBO!TURBO!,Great Fuel Economy For Performance
- Noisey At Lower RPMs
I hear everyone talking about that engine "whine"....Its the TURBO that just screams!I love this car!I had a 1999 9-3 SE and I just traded in my '02 9-5....185 Hp compared to the 260 in my new 9-5!I also tested an Audi A4,BMW 330xi,and a MB C 230 Kompressor....You can beat the Saab in Price or Performance.I have been a loyal Saab owner and will continue to be one....as long as GM doesnt mess things up....haha...read morehide

- Excellent Seats, Radio by Harmon Kardon with XM Satalite, Fast and Unique
- Occasional cabin noise on rough roads, Cant open trunk without pushing a button
Purchased my 9-5 on 7/05/2006. Traded in a Mercedes C230 Kompressor. The Merc offered a better ride vs. handeling trade off but the SABB out performs it in most catagories. Good fuel economy for how quick this cars is. The paint finish is excellent and the 9-5 is a great long distance cruiser with some of the best leather seats I have seen or sat in. Rear seats are heated and the kids love that here in Chicago. Dual sun visors are cool. Still too new to tell how it will wear as time passes. Very happy to date and I like the fact that you(I) dont pass 50 of them on the way to work....read morehide

- Comfort, style and handling. Very "peppy".
- engine whines a bit.
This is my second Saab and I m very pleased. I picked this car up on the European delivery program Saab offers. Thats a pretty sweet deal when you combine it with a European driving vacation. Nice discount and travel expenses payment helps a lot. I drove the car through northern Europe for two weeks on highways and country roads and really enjoyed the experience. The interior setup is fabulous. Get the ventilated seats. The stereo system is fabulous and the nav system really does the job. The ride tends to be sporty, although it is very comfortable. The car is just getting started at 140 km/h Huge back seat and trunk. I am going to love this car...read morehide
