Upon introduction, both trims are equipped with a standard 2.0-liter, I4, 207-horsepower, turbo engine. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard on the FWD, and a 5-speed automatic transmission is optional. A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard on the Aero.
The 2010 9-3 SportCombi is a carryover from 2009.
