Cool car. Its runs great, Toyota quality. I bought this car for MPG and that is all. I had several choices. The Scion xD?? Road like a tank on training wheels. Road rough, cramped, if I'm in a small car, this felt like it. The Honda fit is nice, just didn't like the style, and slightly higher price. The cooper, nice, but has too many #$%$s driving them, not that im not an #$%$, but dont like how people say,. oh yay, you drive a cooper.. ya. No respect. Anyway, where was I, just wanted something different, high milage, so guess this was it. Hate the idea of a Fiat, too many O. o looks, like will it eventually break down and cost a arm and leg to fix. So, got this, and love it. A little boxy, but being able to drive to New York from California for 200 bucks, I'm there....read morehide

Awesome engineering. You forget the car's outer dimensions when you are driving inside. It fits everywhere.
I went on a 1600 mile trip from SLC to San Francisco in the middle of winter and the ride was comfortable, it felt nimble and confidence-inspiring in the less than ideal conditions, and it run circles around other cars in the streets of San Francisco; the car was at home.
I did pay more than some other little cars but, it being a Toyota, I know I will get at least 300k and I have peace of mind that it will take me places reliably and cheaply! (Just like my '93 civic vx with 310k miles).
I am a little of a hot rodder and I've been thinking that a rear mounted turbocharger would turn this little car into a little rocket that has potential for even better fuel economy. Just a thought....read morehide1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

I really love this car, I opted to lease this time around. I had a Smart car and the IQ has a smoother ride. I think the bigger tires help.

I love this car. Had a Sonata and got rid of it for the Scion. Fell in love with the car after initial test drive. One thing I would like to point out is that this car does get the mpg advertised and sometimes better depending on how its driven (you can get less if you are a lead foot or choose to drive harder). As far as I know it is the only car on the market that does not have to fall back on a combined lesser mpg (hwy/city mpg) Most of the current crop of cars that advertise 40 or close to really achieve 28-35 when driven. So if what you are looking for is to get a decent return on your gas investment...then check this car out. If you are looking for something that is going to replace your manhod, please go get another car and leave it at that. It really is a great car for the price. Once again, it costs more than a Yaris or comparable car...go sit in one of those and then add bluetooth headset and premium wheels etc and talk price again. Those things were present on my car (along with others) and I paid approx 17,000. My insurance dropped by about 600 a year and my taxes were almost the same as the Sonata....read morehide

Picked up my little Hot Lava Iq this week. Loving every minute of this car. My kids look at it and laugh. If they drove it they would see just how great this little car is. Traded a v6 Mustang for this. The IQ is a lot more fun to drive. Mine has the rear spoiler and alloys already on. Acceleration is'nt any worse than my Escape. Getting 40 mpg easily. All I can say is if you have any reservations about this car at all, take one for a spin. This car is'nt just for kids. I'm in my 50s and feel this car is the perfect cure for the midlife crisis. Thanks Scion!...read morehide

I bought mine new in January 2012. I now have 8,000 plus miles on it. I added alloy wheels, tinted the windows through Toyota/Scion added fog lights and carpeted mats. I love this car. I'm in my mid 50's and have owned more cars and trucks of all sorts. Performance to economy types. Some good and some rather wretched. This little car is top of the heap for it's class. It never disappoints but continues to surprise me with it's capabilities. Scion claims 36 city and 37 highway. I got that maybe twice. My mileage stays in the 40's and has reached well into the high 50's. I have hypermiled this car and gone into the 60's with gas mileage. All you have to do is watch your right foot and match your speedometer to the eco gauge and pay attention to your driving habits. I keep mine on a diet of gas without ethanol. Boy your mileage jumps in this little car when you do that. It is no doubt a keeper. This thing beats my motorcycle for gas mileage. All I have to say is WOW! Toyota Scion why didn't you bring this here sooner. My other vehicles stay at home now. This one is my constant driver. If they are still around when I finally wear this one out I will buy another....read morehide

I'm thoroughly enjoying my little Black Sand Pearl iQ. I don't tote a bunch of things or many other people in my car so this works out perfectly. It's a fun car to drive and I really love the look. Fuel economy has been very good so far as I get through almost 2 wks out of the small tank. Car runs as smooth at 80 as it does at 40 and handles very well. Bluetooth connectivity for phone calls and streaming music is a nice bonus as standard equipment along with HD Radio. I do wish there were allow wheels as standard equipment for the price.
I think that if you're expecting more than this vehicle is supposed to be you'd be disappointed. If you're in the market for a microcar such as the iQ or Smart ForTwo I think you'll be impressed. Comparing the two the iQ feels like a Lexus....read morehide2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Fuel economy, small size, drives very well for a small car, Bluetooth, CVT tranny, safety.
- Cons
- small car, not as good MPG at very high speeds, no auto start or cruise control options.

I've only had it a little over a week. Toyota reliability history is excellent, but of course is unknown for this car as of yet. I use it as a solo commuter car (my other is an SUV). For one or two people with some luggage it is comfortable and a great car. It handles well and does well in cross winds at 75+ mph on the highway. The auto streaming of bluetooth from my Iphone for music and calls is fantastic. So far only 34 mpg, but its breaking in and running mostly at 80 or so mph. The no-shift CVT tranny is actually pretty smooth.
All round, so far, it is great as a commuter car! If it was my only vehicle, the lack of space may be a problem. But it has a suprising amount of space and comfort for such a small car. Being 10 feet long allows me to park two motorcycles AND the car in my one underground garage space :)
Hope the reveiw is helpful....read morehide4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

We have 2 of these little cars. My wife got hers in January and mine in May. Driving with some control of your right foot, 40+ mpg is very possable. The handling of the little car is better than just about anything on the road in the US. Can't wait for the aftermarket to put out some upgrades.
