- Looks very sporty, good summer car
- Awful in the snow
Purchased As Used
I have an '07 model. I bought this car a few months ago even though I really wanted an SUV because I live in a state where it snows frequently in the winter. (Had to work with a budget). This car is awful to drive in the snow and even with new tires I slid quite a bit and got stuck a few times. I bought the car because it's cute and fun but I regret it. I can't wait to trade it in. I was also in an accident and the car held up surprisingly well. I have also found the car to be rather loud....read morehide

- Lots of standard features. Good value for the money. Very popular car to have while in college.
- Lots of road noise particularly at highway speeds. Can't brag about gas mileage.

The Scion tC is one of the most popular cars among Generation Y; if not the most popular. You get a 100% Japanese import that looks like a Lexus but certainly doesn't sound like one at cruising speeds, due to excessive road noise and strange internal rattles from the hatch.
Still a solid buy due to the inclusion of 17" alloy wheels (with a very nice design), side mirror turn signal indicators, panorama glass moonroof (seen as 2 moonroofs from inside), and audio/cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. All standard features included in a 3 door hatchback that looks like a 2 door coupe.
In the end the 2008,09, and 2010 could of been perfect if they had improved the road noise and kept the original grille (the 05-07 all included a chrome bezel and a honeycomb style design).
In terms of exterior appearance the 08,09,10 tCs look cheaper on the outside with the exception of the new tailights (the new headlight design looks like a weird fusion between the mazda3 and the corolla's headlights). What really kills the 08,09,10 tC's exterior quality and really makes it look cheaper then it's predecessors is the new upper and lower grille designs. The idea of redesigning the upper and lower grille was a mistake from the start.
As for the interior, the appearance is improved over the 05,06,07 due to new silver accents on the door handles which add a bit more color to the mostly black interior. The interior lighting of the controls are also a darker amber orange (the older ones were a yellow) color which gives the tC a more Nissan 350z styled look while driving at night.
In conclusion the tC is a great car over all but could of been a near 10/10 if the newer models kept the older upper/lower grille design....read morehide

- Ride, comfort, and audio.
- Rear head room
Purchased As New
I ended up going with an 09' tC in October of 2008 mainly because of the value. I wasn't entirely sold on the Scion brand and certain aspects of the car. But the price and payment were right so I drove it off the lot thinking I'll find something else later. A year later I have no intention of getting rid of it any time soon. This car rides very smoothly and the gas/brakes aren't too touchy or slow to respond. I love the iPod hook up which sounds great with the Pioneer audio system. I definitely catch myself zooming around town while bopping my head. I've been able to cart my friends around with ease. As well as pick up heavy duty items from the store with the convenience of the hatch. Only two things I don't like: not enough head room in the rear, and there is no rear windshield wiper....read morehide

- interior design and materials are cool, fuel economy exceeds EPA, nice wheels, great audio,
- head room, this is not a car for tall people.
Purchased As New
My Scion tC fuel economy has always exceeded the published EPA of 29 hwy. So far I've gotten up to 36 and usually get 32 without slowing down. The brakes are great. Suspension could be better, this must be one area where they saved money. Bumps are jarring. I like the Honda suspension much better. Panoramic roof is cool....read morehide

- good gas mileage

i had test driven one of these because i thought they were cute, and the ride was good. but after owning it for awhile i was really let down at the "sportiness" of the car. other than the look, nothing sporty about this car and honestly, after seeing every other tc on the road, seemed to notice that the brakes aren't to sporty either. not even joking, everyone i see on the road is wrecked in either the front or rear fender.so after more consideration and shopping i went for, what's in my opinion and need, a better car....read morehide
