All in all, A GREAT CAR

by Barry Saugen from Riverbank, CA. (7/04/08)
Pros:GREAT ON GAS (37-40) MPG.
Cons:This is a great car, handles great, roomy, handles great.

The motor size description is the main part of this is incorrect. All the ones I found had a 2.4 motor. I am averaging 39 MPG that includes driving in the hills with the A/C on. Good Stereo, The 2008 model has many upgrades to the safety (air bags). Handles really well. All in all, a great car. Oh Yeah, my teenage son actually wants it for himself. Dad still has an eye for the cool cars.

Great gas mileage!!

by Marvin Pustejovsky from Fort Worth, Texas (7/04/08)
Pros:Great fuel mileage, fully loaded at a cheap price
Cons:Rear sets are uncomfortable

Great four door hatchback for the price. I drive it to and from work at 60 to 65 mph. Takeing off easy and stopping easy. The car has power to take off .But if you keep your foot out of it you can average 33 to 34 miles a gallon on the freeway. This was just to and from work only, no side trips. I do not get stuck in rush hour traffic on my way to and from work. And I am very impressed with the gas mileage. Then one week when driving back and forth to work I also ran around to the post office, mall ect. and averaged 31 miles a gallon.

Great little car

by Andy from Marinette, WI (7/01/08)
Pros:Excellent fuel economy, handles like a sports car, loaded with goodies
Cons:A bit more cargo space would be nice, but not if it means less mpg's

My wife and I bought this car last Nov. and we love it! Ours has the manual trans. and we average 30-33 mpg in town and 38-43 mpg highway. Very first foreign car I have ever purchased and will probably never go back- we'll see how the long-term reliability is. Glad we did not get the Toyota Prius- cheapest Prius we found was for $28,000.00- our Scion came off the lot loaded with standard features, plus the electronic vehicle stability control, for under $16,000.00.

Will have paid for itself in 28 months!

by Tim M. from Geneva, NY (7/01/08)
Pros:I LOVE this car! Last week on a 400mile round trip drive I averaged 41.25 mpg!
Cons:light on power, but that's part of the point

After driving SUV's for years I thought I'd hate this car and was just doing it for the gas savings... which are fantastic... but I love this car! It has much more room than you'd think with plenty of head and leg room front AND back. The baby seat latches in securely... and our 15 year old thinks it's cool! (Points for Dad!)

I purchased this initially as a grocery getter for my wife and to get rid of her SUV. But I have to admit that now it is MY everyday commuter car. Great on gas, great to park, nimble while still feeling safe. Surprisingly good visuals all around... and washing and waxing doesn't take too long at all.

I've never felt compelled to write something like this before, but I do now. This is not just a great car for the money. It's a great car. And the fact that it will be paid for in 28 months based on my gas savings alone makes it even sweeter.

Great gas mileage without sacrificing roominess

by Mary from Miami, FL (7/01/08)
Pros:Great fuel economy, tons of room inside, can park anywhere, excellent stereo
Cons:Its a little loud inside, but really no other complaint

This car looks small on the outside, but i can actually go to costco and fill it up and still have room for the kids. My daughter drives it to school and the beach...everyone in our family loves it, and the gas mileage is great!!! I've gone from a suburban to this. I'd even rather drive it than my audi!!! Love it, Love it, Love it!!!!!

Keep Looking

by Mad Max from Erie, PA (7/01/08)
Pros:Love it or hate it.
Cons:Uncomfortable for older larger driver. Mileage estimate off.

I did a 24 hour test drive and found the mileage around town to be far less than the EPA estimate. Most reviewers indicate getting mileage as good or better than EPA estimates... Don't believe it. Plan on around 20 around town and maybe 25 on the road. I wasn't impressed with the styling, though owners of the car think the looks are just way cool and have cute little vanity plates like orng cr8 etc. It feels responsive to someone with little experience in real rally race handling, but it actually drives like a dog.

I LOVE MY CAR!

by MonkeyandOP from Sacramento, CA (6/21/08)
Pros:Great fuel economy. SAT Radio available. Front and side curtain airbags all around.
Cons:Small fuel tank. Average full range about 306 miles.

I purchased this car in Aug 07 because it was safe, economical, cute, sporty, different and fun. It gets looks all the time! Cost wasn't a factor, I got it because it offered everything that I wanted. I added the Sat radio, cargo cover, window tinting, and cargo net. I love aesthetic flow and am also a huge satelite radio fan and having it in the car without after market wires hanging out all over was a huge bonus for me. The standard radio with SAT addition allows for me to see Artist Name and Song Titles, which is a big deal for a music buff. Also, the IPOD plug. The use of the air conditioner (which could keep an igglo cold) doesn't cause a draw of power from the engine. I take frequent trips to Lake Tahoe and it passes other cars with ease in the mountains. It has a great stereo, just don't roll down the back windows, it causes a strange audio effect. The windows roll all the way down and at lightning speed. My only complaints would be the comfort of the steering wheel, I have small hands and it's a bit big for my grip. However, I do love the stereo controls beening on the steering wheel. Other down fall, the amount of dust/dirty rain build up on that accumulate on the back of the car.

what's not to like?

by Steve from West Chester, PA (6/14/08)
Pros:inexpensive to operate, easy & fun to drive, comfortable on longer drives
Cons:a little lacking in cargo space with 4+ occupants

I just got one of these about a month ago after an hour long test drive. It's very responsive and has good acceleration as well as a very nice road feel.

The cabin is well designed, and access to various features very user-friendly and intuitive. I have the "basic" sound system, which has excellent fidelity. Included are input jacks (with the necessary connectors) to hook up an iPod or just about any other audio device imaginable.

The guages took a little getting used to, but are very easy to read and interpret at a glance with the possible exception of the fuel guage, which is a digital display of color blocks reflecting 1/8 tank increments.

All in all, I think this is a terrific automobile for a small car. It parks easily in even a small space and the electric steering make manuvering a snap.

Very pleased

by Mark Driscoll from Windber PA (6/13/08)
Pros:live in semi-rural area 33 mph average 42 highway
Cons:Cargo space small but adjudicate trade off for sporty looks.

Hi. I am very pleased with this vehicle and think you will be also. The cargo room is good for a small car with a fold down sets option. If you need a LOT of cargo space buy a Civic Fit even though they are noisy and rough to drive. Over all My wife and I are very happy with the Scion XD! Have a great day.
