I had to wait & wait for my 2011 Passion Coupe. After 5 months I took home my panda. (Wht/Blk). It was worth the wait. My car has been very well built. No squeaks or quaility issues in 2 years. Car receives many ?'s and comments. Not always flattering. Like " Do you drive that on the freeway?". I see no reason you couldn't drive across country. It works on the freeway & returns 40 MPG on a regular basis. I have cruise control which eliminates the paddle shifters, but I like the ' slap stick' style of manual shifting, and it works good too.Great car but for only 2 passengers. I now I have my eye on the E/V....read morehide

- Pros
- Great fuel economy
- Cons
- No CD player with the entryline radio.

This is my second Smart car and a 2013 Pure with power steering, radio and AC, and this one is tons better than the 2008 model I had owned before this one. It rides better than the 08, and it's tranny is a little more refined due to a better software package, and it has a far longer warranty which is great for those who lease one. Overall, i love this Smart more than the last one, with one exception, the lack of a CD player with the standard radio, but on the plus side, it gets better reception on many stations than the previous radio offered in the base Pure....read morehide

I would highly recommend these to anyone, as they have a great ride for a car for just one or two people, out running errands, or even taking out on the road. good cargo space, lots of power for such a small motor, surround sound, navigation system, in dash cd, 10,000 mile intervals between service/oil changes, excellent dealer service and attention, finds bumps easily, otherwise great, as I have purchased 2 within 2 months time!A++++++++++ I first bought a loaded Passion, but without the Navigation, as this was to be for me to use for Real Estate, once I finsih my studies and test out later this year. After playing with my navigation with ATT, and realizing it is offline, and flat out wrong, 80% of the time, I decided to either trad in my 1500 mile car, or, just buy another. I ended up buying a BRABUS Passion, which is a totally different beast than the first car. They are both, consistently, getting 35-36 mpg, in heavy traffic, here in Dallas/Ft Worth, which is a horrible commute, due to all of the road construction. These were purchased under the special MB ran for 0 down, 0% interest, and 60 months to pay off! Why tap into your own funds when you can drive free of interest, and get first class service, of which I have enjoyed with Park Place Motors, in the past, with other Mercedes, including my antique, on a car that i bought two of, for less than the price of an E Class? These are great cars, and I highly recommend you upgrade to the Nav sys, with surround sound, as it puts you into another plain, going doing the road!...read morehide

- Pros
- More room in cockpit than one would expect.
- Cons
- It does ride a little rough but with the small footprint it is to be expected

Was one of the first to get a smart in 2008. My wife LOVES it. I like that we can drop the top at 70 miles an hour (yes 70) on the freeway. In the five years we have owned our smart the only problem we have had is with the dealers Laguna Nigal and Beverly Hills. The first, Laguna Nigal, was the worst experance I have EVER had with a dealer. The second, Beverly Hill, did treat us like second class and made us feel like we really put them out because we weren't dirving 500SL.
Fortunatelly we found a independent shop not far away that workd on smarts. Other than that our smart has lived up to what the car is named after:

- Can feel the 5 speed, need trunk cover

I got this car a week ago and so far I love it! I was driving a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it was costing so much in gas so I sold it. The Smart Car is way better on gas and its pretty roomy. The dealer said that I would be able to feel the car shifting gears for a while till the transmission breaks in but it doesnt bother me much....read morehide

- Pros
- cheap on gas
- Cons
- expensive to repair

Rides rough over bumps, when two grown people ride together your shoulders hit each other, not much room to carry luggage.
The main problem is reliability. Only place that works on these is Mercedes dealer. They treat you like a pariah since you did not buy a MB.
Parts are 2 to 3 times or more than a normal car. Premature engine failure in cars with 20,00 mils and up
Dont buy unless you are rich and need a toy...read morehide6 out of 10 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Decent Fuel Economy
- Cons
- Extremely Unreliable, No Spare Tire

After repeated breakdowns and a proprietary service monopoly by M/B at M/B rates, I gave up and parked it. It's cheaper to make a $200 a month payment for a lawn ornament than it is to drive it.

- Pros
- Great Fuel Economy, Suprisingly Room Interior, Manuverability
- Cons
- Not many dealers across the U.S., Ride is Rough on Bumpy roads

I purchased my 2013 SMART PURE after reading tons of reviews that all seemed to point out that the transmission was jerky. I'll say this. The transmission performs just like a manual five speed transmission that is being controlled by a human being, except, with the smart the functions have been automated. Some people may see this as a bad thing. Frankly I see it as a great thing. Why? I remember the days of 5 speeds there were far less transmission problems than those that occur with automatics. I had an extensive conversation with first the service manager and smart certified mechanic as well as an INDY shop mechanic. The service advisior stated that the car had only one issue in it's American life which had to do with A/C blower motor in 2008 which has now been remedied since the 2009 model. This was confirmed by the INDY shop mechanic. This is my second car as I also own a 2007 BMW 5 series. The smart is not an M, AMG or Turbo, it is a basic car with few bells and whistles to give you problems later own down the road. I think it is adorable. I have not had any issues with it. Sure there are cars that have 4 seats and bigger engines but many people have those. Not many have a SMART, I like being different. In terms of gas mileage I have been averaging 40mpg city. I got the vehicle for 0% interest for 60 months, which basically means I have a car note of 212/month, it is the cheapest car note I have ever had!!!!! I love it!!!! I love it!!! I love it!!!!...read morehide
