- LONG WAIT TIME FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AT SUBARU OF AMERICA
Purchased As New
04/01/2013 @ 12:30pm. I called Subaru of America to speak with customer service and I waited over 30 minutes to speak to someone. Thats ridiculous. Then Jeremy picks up and we talk. Then we argued. Then I left the conversation feeling no Subaru LOVE they advertise so much. I wish he would have transfered me to a supervisor or manager instead of argueing. This is my last Subaru because I can surely see only greed and hate in the companies eyes....read morehide

- Cons
- Too many recalls. Ride quality sucks. Engine noise.

I spend too much time at the dealer for recalls. They don't even compensate you for your time or GAS! I live 20 minutes away and it takes them hours to fix it. I can imagine the headaches when trying to sell my car because the carfax says RECALL, RECALL, RECALL. I made a huge mistake buying this piece of #$%$. Lord help me....read morehide

- Pros
- Handling, AWD performance in snow
- Cons
- Outdated styling, odd cup holders, transmission
Purchased As New
This is my Company car. Fundamentally, it’s a great Car: The Subaru AWD system is still about as good as they get for slippery conditions while the flat-4 engine is smooth and sits low, which brings the center of gravity down to provide more car-like on road handling. Some of the Details are lacking though: The interior just doesn’t look like it belongs in a 2013 model car, the cup holders are square and too big to hold normal sized drinks snugly (I usually prefer holding my drink between my legs over having it slide and crash around in the big square voids in my console) and the 4-speed transmission, while better than most, is still a 4-speed and it reminds me of the reasons why I used to hated driving automatics before they started making them with 5+ speeds and CVTs. I think the transmission is also what kills the gas mileage as other small “crossovers” like the Escape and CRV are getting 30 mpg on the highway, the Forester only gets 27. I’ve read the 2014 model has a new transmission and an updated interior. If I were buying the car with my own money, I would have waited for the new model....read morehide

- Cons
- It is what it is.

Bought new 2011 model in July 2011, same as the 2013. Now have 7800 miles. Zero issues so far. Should last for some time to come. Wife loves it, traded in a Taurus. Next car will be another Subaru, maybe a Legacy or an Outback. Nice for old retired folks like us.

- Pros
- Comfort, ease of entry and reliability
- Cons
- Transmission & radio
Purchased As New
I bought ours new in 2010 and now that it is almost 3 years old and has 34,000 miles I can say it is an excellent vehicle. Everything about the car is excellent except the clunky 4 speed tranny which will be replaced with a CVT in 2014 and the tinny sounding radio in the cheaper models. We plan on buying the new 2014 with the better trans and will also get a Limited or Touring model for the leather seats and better sound system. In the meantime we are quite content with the one we have and recomend these to everyone....read morehide
