2007 Subaru Impreza
There are 4 user reviews for the 2.5i Sedan Special Edition trim shown below
- Quick with manual trans, nimble handling, decent gas mileage, sporty, all-wheel drive
- Interior somewhat bland, accessories too expensive from dealer, door storage pockets could be bigger
I took delivery of a 2007 Impreza 2.5i Special Edition Sedan last week and I am very pleased with it. Got a great deal -- $1,000 off sticker plus $1,500 rebate and used $400 Subaru bucks to further reduce the final price. Dealer installed fog lights at cost and threw in a free set of all weather floor mats but wanted too much for other accessories so I ordered ithem on-line at about half the cost. This car reminds me of my first (1990) VW GTI in that it is quite fast when pushed and has a nice growl to the engine. Plus it handles well. I use it as a daily driver mostly on the highway so WRX performance is not needed. Special Edition package is a must -- the moonroof, six disc player with aux jack, and climate control are worth the extra $1,000 which is really only $500 since the rebate on these is $500 more than the standard 2.5i. I had a hard time finding a stick shift -- car had to be brought in from out-of-state but this was done at no cost. Urban grey is a really cool paint color. I see this car made the Car and Driver 10 fastest under $20,000 list and I can see why after driving it around. I'm looking forward to winter and expect this car with its all-wheel drive to serve me well. We currently own two other Subaru's but both are automatics -- a 2003 Legacy and a 2005 Baja Turbo. I leave these for my spouse since she can't drive stick, and prefer to drive the Impreza on all but long trips. I'm not wild about the 2008 Impreza redesign, so I thought I would grab one of these while the grabbing was good....read morehide

- Loads of standard features, Fuel economy, excellent handling
- a bit price-y, lacks compartments
Have driven the car for about one week now, very satisified with the car. Fuel economy is better than i expected.
Had compared the cars in same class, civic, mazda3. civic and impreza are both very quiet on the road whereas mazda 3's engine screams when doing hard acceleration.
One might consider mazda 3 and/or civic for lesser price, however impreza comes with many standard features at a higher price, i would say it is a fair game. AWD comes in handy when doing sharp turning. Really looking forward to play it in snow/bad weather.
SE package is to die for, relatively good value comparing to other brands, only 1500 more for heated seats, SUNROOF, foglights, racing seat and auto climate control. Adding the spoiler is also recommended....read morehide

- AWD, Power, Fuel economy, Stereo, Styling!
- Back seat leg room, but what am I worried for, I don't sit back there
I bought my 2.5I Special Edition about 5 months ago.
I have just over 8000kms on it.
I had a 2003 Honda Civic Sport and to go to the Impreza, MUCH MORE car!
I'm much happier with my Impreza, I can put my foot down on the gas and expect the car to actually move. Only complaint between the two cars is the Civics flat floor, but the Impreza's driveshaft has to be somewhere, right?
Now, we also got a 2007 Civic the same day as the Impreza. Once again, the Impreza is a much better car. I don't believe Honda's 50mpg rating. Doesn't seem to be any better then the Impreza, and both cars are autos, Civic being 5spd.
Only thing made better on the new Civics is the rear leg room and flat floor.
My grandfather also has a 1991 Legacy he's owned since new...and has had NO problems at all in the 16 years he's had it.
When the lease is up on this Impreza, I think Subaru will have a returning customer....read morehide

- best buy for the money
- the shape is a bit on the ugly side
overall performance wise its nice interior its roomy and spacious and for the price its an excellent buy...the only factor that is not pleasing a smuch is the design...subaru needs to pay more attention to the shape of the cars pertaining to uniqueness instead of aerodynamics or else we may just end up driving fast weird shaped cars...read morehide
