2007 Subaru Impreza

- AWD better than expected. 29mpg w/o a/c, sleek looking, eye catching, comfortable.
- back seat leg room is nearly nonexistant
I have been a loyal Honda driver for over 15 years, but my husband wanted to buy me the Subaru for a Christmas present. I was sceptical, to say the least, expecting it to be a poor addition to our Civic. (just can't give up those Hondas. having put over 400,000 miles on the two we have owned)
The car has amazed me. We took it into the mountains for a week and drove through ice, sleet, rain, winding mountain roads and long distance on I-95. The handling and comfort surpassed Honda in every category. The Impreza drives and rides like a far more expensive car.
We have the "Sport Package," which includes alloy wheels, a sunroof, 6CD stereo, and a few other perks. What a delight!
I never thought I would find a car better than a Honda, but if the car continues to perform the way it has for the two months I have owned it I will be a loyal Subaru driver for many cars to come.
The only major oversight in the car is the lack of backseat legroom. It is not that it is just a little tight, if a normal sized adult is in the front seat, there is NO legroom in back. I can not figure out how they could have overlooked this in an otherwise perfect car. I rarely have backseat passengers, so it does not affect me too often.
The fold down armrest/trunk access is a nice touch. The trunk is roomier than my Honda. The safety features are what sold me, but the details keep me happy....read morehide

- Rock Solid on Safety, Reliability, and Value
- Styling is Arguably a Bit Dated (Although Far From Horrible).
I have put close to 30,000 miles on my 2007 Impreza 2.5i as I drive considerable distances for business and pleasure. To date, I have not experienced even the slightest problem

- Traction, great sporty handling, good looking
- Tight back seat, minimal trunk clearance.
Glad we paid more and got the car with the upgrade package. The 6-speaker 6-CD player has very good sound. Love the 16" wheels both for looks and traction. The interior upholstery is nicer looking than the standard and the controls look much better. We're trying to be objective, although the fact we traded in a worn out 1995 Ford Escort 5-speed stick makes for a ludicrous contrast (trading up to the Good after driving the Bad and the Ugly).
Wish the back seat and trunk were bigger, but we knew what we were getting and it's just the two of us most of the time. The styling (I think one of the Italian designer had something to do with the new grill) is superb -- with the under-grill scoop and design, it looks fast just sitting there.
We had to swallow hard as it is a bit pricey for a small car (although not ridiculously out of line). But given that our other car is a rear wheel drive Mercedes that is tempremental in snow, we are anxiously awaiting the first nasty snowstorm so we can go bombing around in our AWD go-cart before the plows get out. It has already proven itself in the rain (where it's just enough rain to make the oil on the street get real slick). It hugged the asphalt like it had glue on the tires. Really good acceleration and pep for any subcompact, but especially one with AWD and automatic and only 4 cylinders. The concern about a road trip breakdown 200 miles from a Subaru dealer is a little scary, but we see enough old Subarus around Chicago that we're convinced they must be pretty reliable people wouldn't keep buying them....read morehide

- AWD, Roomy for a comact, Sleek designing
- A little lacking in accelleration when fully-loaded
Not a typical wimpy egg-shaped comact.. a'la Civic, Aveo, etc. Great interior, lots of little compartments. Good value.

- HANDLES GREAT, lots of power, good breaking, crisp shifting
- base sterio, interior gague lights (boring green)
awsome car if you are looking for performance and steering. hugs the road during heavy acceleration and in poor weather. i bought this car a month ago with the 5 speed manual. the clutch pedal is soft to push and easy to ride. jerks a lil between shifts but that is mainly cuz of the all wheel drive which one could expect. the engine has alot of pull and power. i love the sound of the engine as it roars but if you are someone who like a quite ride you may not like it too much. i average 25.6 mpg and that is mainly city driving. this is a great car to own if you are looking for something for the long haul. even with 4 people in the car it still has alot of pull and not alot of drag cuz of the added weight. the seats hug your body but can be a lil uncomfortable on long trips. a great car for the price and it makes the top 10 on car and driver for quickest cars under 20,000. looks very intinadating on the road and spoiler and fog lights are a must to make this car stand out and be noticed...read morehide

- HANDLING! AWD, style, safety
- Cheap interior, off the line accel. is horrible (auto)
I own a 2.5i with an automatic transmission. The off the line acceleration is absolutely pitiful, and very unpredictable. Sometimes its excellent even for a naturally aspirated 4 cyl., other times its bad enough Id expect better from a large SUV with a small engine. Do not buy an automatic if acceleration is of any importance.
Acceleration all together is unpredictable- sometimes great, sometimes mediocre, sometimes so bad its almost dangerous.
Handling is great, AWD dependable and reliable. The only modification Ive done is a larger rear sway bar.
Interior very cheap, sound system mediocre. Seats very firm....read morehide

- peppy engine, good looks, nice dash layout
- terrible clock location, harsh, noisy ride, jerky acceleation
I went from a 2000 Legacy to a 2007 Impreza. The Impreza handles "crisper", but is not that comfortable and has considerable road and wind noise. The instrumentation layout is good with the exception of the clock that can be seen only at night with the lights on!

- Great acceleration and control. Nice and sporty. Seats make you feel a part of the car.
- Sport suspension=stiff ride. Feels small. Very little room in the back for a sedan.
Bought a new one off the lot 6 days ago (5spd sedan). Handling and acceleration are incredible. Feedback from the steering wheel is great. Once in the driver's seat you feel like a part of the car. Coming from a chevy monte carlo, this thing feels a bit cramped inside. Trying to break it in nice and easy (difficult, this thing wants to go once you hit 3k rpm). First tank was 22.5mpg. Trunk is pretty spacious, but the back seats will not be comfortable for avg sized adults. Overall a great car for the price and from what I've read, it should last quite a bit....read morehide

- Good acceleration, handling, comfortable, all wheel drive, good gas mileage, attractive, fun, unique
- engine sometimes a little loud, ride not incredibly smooth, a little pricy for a smallish car
Stylish, unique car, easy and fun to drive, accelerates quickly but still gets good gas mileage (average of about 26 for city/highway mix).

- AWD, safety, good mpg
- could use a little more trunk space
We traded in out 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX in for the 2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5i special edition after 2 months of research. We had our choices narrowed down to a 2007 Toyota Corolla S and this car. The Subaru won hands down.
We live in a pretty hard core driving area of Colorado so the AWD is almost a must. This car is amazing. We have taken sharp turns at 40+ mph and the car feels stuck to the road. Handling is amazing! It is a champ on our wickid dirt roads. It pulled me out of a muddy ditch I slid into about 2 weeks ago with no problems. I would have been sol with any other 2 wheel drive vehicle.
The gas mileage has been fairly good for us. We average about 27.3 to 27.9 mpg without the a/c. With the a/c we run at about 26 mpg. Most of our driving is on the highway once we get out of our neighborhood though.
The ride is so quiet and smooth. There is no noise from the highway and you can hear that airtight shut when you close the doors of the car. The ride may not be smooth for some, but you have to remember I just traded in a WRX and that ride was very stiff :).
The room is good. We have 2 small children and a family of 4 rides very comfortable in that car. We even have a rear facing convertable carseat behind the passenger seat. However, I am only 5'2 and my husband usually drives on our outings so I have no room complains. He is 6' and his knees are pretty close to the dash on the off chance that I drive, but he still has some room.
The venting system in this car is amazing! Our last Subaru fell short on the air system. This one blows most other cars I have been in out of the water.
The little extra features on the special edition are wonderful. I love the climate control. Ther is no more "I'm too hot, I'm too cold" in our car anymore! The moonroof is such a sweet little extra and the 6 disk in dash CD changer rocks!
The only complaint I have about this car is that the trunk is a little cramped with the stroller in it. We can still fit groceries and other little shopping bags in it, but if we ever need to pick up something a bit bulky we need to take the stroller out.
We do miss the turbo we had in the WRX but this car has made us very happy overall! It is a good choice for anyone that is on the fence!...read morehide
