- Too fun, Nice power and torque, AWD grip, boxer engine sound.
- Slight understeer, TR radio and seats beg to be replaced.
Last good looking WRX, I have had my TR WRX almost 10 months now and I have had zero problems. My only concerns, which are very minor, is that the base radio and seats that comes in TR could be better. No MP3 player input or MP3 CD capabilities and random track option has to be selected each time you turn on the car. My only issue with the seats is that I wish they had bigger bolsters for my ribs. At 6'5" this is the best fitting performance car in this price range. The turbo is too much fun and the exhaust noise from the boxer engine is hard to beat. There is some slight understeer when powering around a corner but it only takes a slight ease off the accelerator to get the weight shifted and get it pointed to where you want to go. Road noise, stiff suspension and stiff seats dont do well on the highway but around town they excel. Best bang for the buck for sure....read morehide

- Performance, All-Wheel-Drive, Brakes, Great Value
- Road noise, some interior elements are cheap, ride can be rough..but it is a performance vehicle
I finally purchased a WRX Wagon after wanting one since 2002. I am very happy with my purchase. Think of it as the family man's Porsche. I get the performance of a turbo charged boxer engine, with the practicality of a all-wheel-drive and the fact that it is a wagon. The recent safety tests as well as the number of airbags will also help when trying to sell the idea to the wife. Also if you go for the wagon this will also help when convincing the other half...60/40 folding seats etc.
Since I am a bit older than when I originally wanted one ... I skipped the rally blue and opted for crystal gray metallic. I also upgraded to the Limited package so I got leather, moon roof, cold-weather kit (heated seats, heated side mirrors and wipers etc). I also twisted the dealer's arm to throw in satellite radio at no additional charge. Since the 08's are coming in (which I do not like the looks of at all), I got a screaming deal on the car.
The performance on this car is amazing. The getup and go on the car is unlike anything out there. It is kind of nice being a 32 year old guy and being able to outrun the kiddies dropped and modded Acuras at lights...but not needing to because you know you can :-) I live in the Northwest and having the all-wheel-drive powered by a 230hp engine is just plain fun. I would suggest the limited package if you can as it is worth the additional cost, I really like having a sun roof and the leather gives the car a sportier feel.
Even though I have wanted this car for a long time, I gave other cars a chance, even those with much higher price tags (Audi A3, BMW 328xi etc), but always came back to this car, as it really is the best all-wheel-drive sport wagon out there for the money.
There are of course some cons. The road noise can be a little annoying, but I have gotten used it and actually like it sometimes...I like to hear the woosh of cars as I fly by them. The satellite radio is also helpful here as I can crank it up. The ride is a bit rough, but it is to be expected given the suspension is tuned more for performance than comfort. Some of the interior elements are kind of cheap even in the limited edition, small things you would usually expect in newer cars, but this really is reflected in the sticker price.
All and all this is a great car and a great price. Reliable performance in a compact all wheel drive wagon. I cannot wait for it to start snowing! Bring it on!...read morehide

- sharp look, great performance, AWD all the time, no too bad on price for WRX model
I really like the look of the car, I feal that for the price of the WRX model you get more than what you pay for The interir could use some work, maybe more like the STI interior for design the material is not the best on the interior trim but over all the car the car is what it is a sports car with preformance....read morehide

- build quality, performance, handling, seating
- turbo lag, Engine Control Unit retards too much in summer, top mount IC, poor wheels
For the money it's hard to beat. The WRX goes on full boost early in RPMs which makes acceleration a simple matter in first and second, but in third-fifth turbo lag can be an issue. Roll on performance from 3000 RPM in 3rd and 4th is really good for the displacement. Brakes are good, but stock tires are not all that in the rain, and in snow the wheels spin too easily, also a tire issue. The transmission still has problems shifting into first compared to other boxes on the market. You almost have to be stock still before you can downshift into first. First is geared so tall that you don't have much speed range with it anyway. Turbo lag can be dangerous in fifth if you need to accelerate quickly from cruise speed, as you absolutely must downshift into fourth to get any acceleration. The turbo strikes a fair compromise between quick spool and volume, but full boost can not be maintained beyond 5200 RPM. It tapers relatively smoothly until you get to 5700 RPM then it falls off rapidly.
Left bone stock it is an entertaining daily driver with reasonable comfort and comfortable seating for 4 fat american adults. Lateral acceleration is not class leading, but this is a daily driver sedan and it's much more comfortable on spotty city streets than the STi or other more focused sport sedans. If you are willing to put up with more rapid tire wear you can greatly improve cornering with a different alignment that all but eliminates tire squeal in corners and minimizes roll, all w/o replacing anything.
Quoted mileage is a joke. You'll average 18 mpg in city and 25 on highway cruising at 75-78 mph. 93 octane gas is mandatory, particularly in summer....read morehide

Fast, Fast, Fast, nothing like the launch off the line to snap your head back and supprise the muscle heads, Launching off the line and roasting a 2006 mustang GT with the guys g/f in the car is priceless... I love this car, It is great in snow, a blast to drive, the exhaust note begs for a freer flowing exhaust, the feel once the turbo spools up is better then anything i have ever owned, I have had the 350z, the ser spec-v and a 99 turbo 2zzge swap corolla. I love this car. I would recomend this car to anyone looking for a sleeper, the hood scoop looks as good from the inside as it does from the out, the quality and stiffness of the ride is great there is no wind drift from tractor tailers and it stops great too. THe higher up sti is equally as fantastic and if you could afford the 5-10g increase in price i would opt for that over an m3 as the snow will not cripple you. The MPG's are not to bad if you can keep the tach under 4k in shifts, and with the power available you dont really need to go above 3,500rpms to keep up anyway. I average about 27 all around mpg;s which i think is great and with a big enough tank to not annoy you with having to fill up twice a week on an average drive to work. the only down side to this car is if you have a family and are tall your kids better be young as there is virtually no backseat. the controls are easy to reach the stock stereo is great, the trunk is deep and also well laid out. the cruise control is also fantastic as the car has enough power to pull up most hills to not have to down shift and shut off cruise. the petal arangement is great with enough room to negotiate the clutch as well as break and gas without missing or miss shifting due to pettel lay out. this is a very civilized car with a very aggressive engine......read morehide

- power and handling
- need stronger brake
For $25,000 this is your best choice if you like to drive fast in 365 days all year. Excellent engin power, handling like it's on rail. (espically in rainy and snowy day, you will never got stuck). Good built quality, very reliable mechanical machine. ( Mitsubishi is terrible, I used to have a GSX, it's fast but many many problems. I still go for the extended warrenty of Subaru, because it's a turbo car.) Exterior need to be redesign, not much different from 2002 model. Comfortable seating. Brake is kind of weak. MPG is pretty good for this kind of car. For this price, I'm very happy with this car. If you want to push it even harder, go for the STI, however, I don't always need 300HP and don't want to pay high insurance....read morehide
