2008 Subaru Impreza

- Safe, Sleek enough, but not over the top, roomy, AWD, Roomy
- Weak factory stereo, rattles already from dashboard, fuel economy (but should improve)
Purchased As New
Overall VERY satisfied with this vehicle after about 1,100 miles. Smooth acceleration. Comfortable for all - some of the best cloth seats I've sat in. Sexy dashboard, simple yet nice to look at. Roomy trunk/cargo space, although not much space in the front for little things like driving glasses. Low vehicle noise in the cabin, but you can hear the awesome sound of that Boxer engine. AWD is safe and drives GREAT, but the fuel economy is way below what i was expecting - hopefully this goes up after the 'breakin' period. Easy to add ski/bike rack. Functional hood scoop is awesome! Only concerns are that the car rattles a bit, and my old car was a 1997 that didn't rattle at all - hopefully this doesn't get worse. I'll admit coming from a "Ford family" that learning this climate control system was a bit of a pain, but once I got it figured out, I'm loving the car all the way. Actually those Subaru "love" commercials are kinda true... you'll probalby love driving a Subaru. If the car withstand the test of time, I'll be a Subaru buyer for life....read morehide

- power, handling in the rain/snow, looks, price/value
- DCCD is not an option, average 21 mpg 50/50 city-hwy, no leather option
Purchased As New
Fun to drive car and not the cop magnet the old version was.
The turbo comes on early, you feel the boost at start at 2000 rpm's.
5 speed is a little notchy. not bad, just not as silky smooth as a Honda. Radio is just ok, not much power. aux is cool feature, I used it for my XM radio connection. The new body has framed doors that make it a much quieter car....read morehide

- great styling, comfy seats, AWD.
- she gets thirsty above 4000rpm
I bought my 08 Subie WRX August 24 2007. YES 2007. It was the only one in the PGH area for a while. The looks the car got were that of "what the. . ?" I enjoy my wrx VERY much. Its fast, stylish, and the handling?. . .Tight as a drum. I tell every one to drive one before dismissing it cause of its "LOOKS"....read morehide

- Quick, Sharp looking car for a decent price
- Hard to tell how fast you are going
I just got my first Subaru 5 days ago from Morries Subaru in Brooklyn Park, MN. The salesmen there were top notch, listened to what I wanted, didn't pressure me into anything and made my buying experience into a great one. I went in wanting a WRX and they made sure I was able to get what I wanted. After finishing all of the paperwork, I think everybody at the dealership thanked me and gave me their card telling me to call if I needed anything. Great people!!
Now about the car. I love the way the car feels, looks and drives. The seats hug you and are very comfortable. There are plenty of adjustments that you can make to have the car fit you (I'm 6 foot 2 inches and if fits me great) plus lots of head room. The turbo boxer engine is very snappy and is great on the highway, downshifting at 60mph gives me chills. I'm getting about 20 MPH right now (which is better than my previous 4 cyl mazda 626) and is still climbing. The 2 biggest reasons I got this car are 1) the AWD, I can't wait till it snows. and 2) Subaru quality. I have heard nothing but good things and I really hope that my car will live up to the legendary Subaru name. I will have to wait to know how my two biggest reasons for buying this car turn out but I have high hopes.
LOVE IT, drive one and you'll love it too!!!!!!!
Oh yeah, the con...
I was on my way to work the other day and I looked at the spedometer, turns out I was doing 85mph. Felt like 50mph. So yeah, I have been a little more careful since....read morehide

Ignore the car magazine and other "professional" reviews of the '08 WRX sedan. It is a great car. I have the 5-speed Premium package and love the performance. And, of course, it is a Subaru. I have owned an '03 Legacy, which I loved, and an '07 Outback Wagon, which was also a great car. But I wanted a car with some performance and I tell you, for the price, you can't go wrong with the WRX. Some complain that Subaru sold out with the styling of the '08 to make this appeal to more, but I disagree. It's still has the distinct look (i.e., hood scoop) and does not look like any other car. I will agree though that the grill is only so-so.
Test drive this car and you will want one! I guarantee it....read morehide

- Awesome Car with a great feel
- some of the glue on fairing look like they are falling off.
I have about 8,000 miles on my black 5 door 2008 WRX. The car is awesome. It is extremely fast and I will never have the nerve to drive it has fast as it can go. I getting only about 23 miles per gallon. I always am blasting on every on ramp so i could improve on this.If I had it to do again I would just buy the Impressa with no turbo. I got the full GPS and Sirius which I love and is hard combo to find in a car under 30K. Also on one side the glue on fairing looks like is coming off a bit also on the front the I am afraid the grill is a little lose. That's what you get in a first year car. Two options I wish it had was a sun roof and auto diming rear view mirror and bigger tires. This car got terriable press but I heard that auto makers pay for those articles. This car is perfection on four wheels. Everyone that loves to drive will love this car....read morehide

- very fast, awesome handling, fairly comfortable
- not so great gas milage
I bought my 2008 WRX Sedan a couple of months ago. This is my fourth Subaru and this is by far the best. The car handles like it was on rails. The new design while not loved by die hard WRX fans, seems to be marketed to the broader market and I think Subaru really did a good job at this. More room while keeping the same wieght. When have you ever heard of a car company doing that? The engine is really nice and smooth and delivers a awesome amount of power and yet you can drive it easy and it still runs smoothly. My 90 ford SHO couldn't do that! Awd, smooth ride, awesome handling, good looks, and Subaru's relieabilty...what more could you ask for except better gas milage....read morehide

- FUN TO DRIVE, heated wipers, quick, AWD stability, solid consruction
- Premium stereo is not premium enough
I used to have a VolvoS60 T5, 5spd. The WRX is "quick", the T5 was"fast". The WRX is certainly not as refined or smooth but it's a ton of fun to drive. The AWD combination with good power is awesome. I really enjoy this car. I would not have purchased the previous model but the new one is perfect for me and I still can take my wife and two kids in it with room to spare in very nice comfort (I have the 4-door model). I find the Ricaro style seats to be very comfortable and they are heated in the lumbar region so my wife is very happy as well.
My only complaint would be the stereo. It falls short in a huge way compared to what I had but that can be rectified considering the cars price is over $15K difference in Canada. I love the new look, the size, the AWD and the pull the engine has. I'd change a few things about the options (auto up and down windows for all, etc) but those changes are more personal than a need by Subaru. This car moves when you want it to and I no longer drive at 150Mph so the WRX is really a very nice car in all respects for the boy racer in all of us but still manages to be very civil. I think Subaru pretty much hit their mark with the new design. I am very happy with it....read morehide

- Power, handling, braking, safety, AWD
- Fuel Economy, stereo, center armrest
This is my first subaru and I definitely love this car. The drive is incredible. Plenty of power, great handling, and the brakes work beautifully. The AWD is great in snow and rain. The suspension is a little stiff making for a slightly bumpy ride, but its part of the car in my opinion . . . it is afterall a performance, not a luxury, car.
The only complaints I have regard fuel economy and minor components of the interior design. So far, I have been averaging under 20 mpg in the city, and with the premium fuel requirements, this gets pricey. I have not had a chance yet to test it on the highway. The stock stereo (even the upgraded premium pkg stereo) leaves much to be desired, but it does do the job. The iPod interface is nice, but not very user friendly. That and the center armrest is WAY to low to be functional.
All in all a great car for the price point....read morehide

- AWD, power, one second automatic-brake on hills, handling
- Coin recipient is too small, the arm rest is too low, the seats are not comfortable
Ok, I got this car a month ago. Used to drive an Infiniti G35.
Obviously the G had a lot more power, but this car is so much fun to drive.
Great handling and power. And also love the turbo with the pull.
Some bad things are mentioned on the cons.
The first gear is too sensitive and rough in my experience.
Anybody else can chime in on this?...read morehide
