Purchased As New
I purchased a manual transmission 2011 Impreza Outback Sport, and it is a phenomenal vehicle for the money. The all-wheel-drive is unbeatable, it has great control and tight steering, and it is somewhat like driving a very well built go-kart. Very fun set of wheels. Many of my friends who have ridden in it have said that they want one for their next vehicle as well, and when you look at the options that the Outback Sport comes standard with vs. the price, it's hard to find anything that can compete. The milage of the standard is realistically closer to 31 mpg, highway, than the posted 27, which makes for a reasonably economical car as well.
Living in Colorado, this is an ideal car. Maybe not so much for living in places with warmer weather and less mountains, but Subaru's reliability is definitely something to consider as well when considering the Impreza.
The only thing that could be improved upon the vehicle is the Tom-Tom gps, the audio interface, and the mobile interface. Comparing them to other vehicles I have been in, Subaru's are more tedious to navigate, have less options, and there is a particularly annoying safety feature in which one cannot navigate the audio menu for an ipod unless the parking break is engaged. They are all usable and useful however, it's just there are better items out there.
Overall, I would recommend the Impreza to anyone who wants 4-wheel drive, a fun ride, a safe and reliable vehicle, and a car that can tackle almost anything.
