- Pros
- Seats, leather, sunroof
- Cons
- Needs more power, average stereo, driving lights
This is my second Legacy. I owned a 1996 and it was a great car. This 2006 Limited sedan is a very nice car. Fuel economy on my worse tank was 21 and my best 28.5. Adequate power, but nothing to brag about. The powered driver's seat is very comforatable and the leather is great. The 2-way sunroof is very nice also. The driving lights are a pain because they cause you to forget to turn on your headlights because the driving lights are bright already. The all wheel drive is the best in the industry, bar none. Extremely stable ride with absolutely no slippage at all. This is a car that will happily handle any weather conditions you can throw at it. 6" of snow? No problem for this snow beast. Subaru does not do a really great job of exterior designing. It is an average looking car but does look a lot better when you do as I did and get the black with black leather. These are bullet-proof autos that are so reliable that you can expect to get 250,000 miles out of them. No kidding. My '96 had nearly 200,000 when I had to trade it for a business car that was larger. If you want a stable, reliable and very safe car for your family, look no further. This received the highest crash test ratings possible....read morehide

I test drove new Honda Accords ,Toyata Cambrys,Mazda 6&3s,Scion tC Coupes, Nissan Altima, Hundai Sonatas, PT Cruisers, Audi 3, and Mini Coopers, and this is what I decided on. All their dealers were knowledgable and courteous-not pushy....read morehide

lower center of gravity surpasses all suv's for sure...unless you are planing to drag a trailler in uncharted territory buy this car!

- Pros
- very good fuel economy, Too sexy in black, great extended moon roof, handles like a sports car.
- Cons
- could use an extra 25 hp & 20 ft/ lbs of torque. should of gotten the turbo but wanted to save $
After having had expensive problems with my last car (2000 Volvo XC -v70 turbo) I spent over two months researching several brands: Mazda, Honda, Toyota, and VW.
Market researchers would consider me their "ideal" target for these brands. In my late 30's, married with 2 kids, professional with a good income, active lifestyle.
If I'm the target , Subaru hit the Bull's eye. I got everything I was looking for with this car. I wanted a firm sporty ride but not harsh, great handling, good reliable engine and four wheel drive. The wagon provides plenty of room for kids and storage for weekend related activities.
I have owned hondas, volvos, and still own a toyota truck. This was my first Subaru purchase and I am a believer. It combines the reliability of the honda and toyota, handles better than both , great interior and exterior design, impeccable fit and finish. It stands out because its a little different. ( its seems every other car is a honda or toyota ). The Subaru company philosophy of protecting the environment, nature awareness, and support of the active outdoors lifestyle is very in sync with my personal values and love of nature.
If you are considering buying a Suburu for the first time and if you are looking for a practical SUV, buy the Legacy . You will not regret it. Just as practical as a SUV but has much better gas mileage and handles better in the " REAL " world. Let's keep it real. Peace....read morehide1 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Whammy! Gets up and goes. Handling, acceleration, etc.
- Cons
- Fuel Economy
This is my second Subaru in the last 6 years. Came from a 2000 Subaru Outback sedan and loved it. I traded that in about a month ago for the 2006 2.5 GT. This cars ranks third on my "Best Cars to drive list". Just behind the 2001 Porsche Twin Turbo and the 2005 Audi A8L.
Tips: I've heard a lot of complaints about the Turbo lag, just make sure you give the engine a good rev and say goodbye to the lag. All turbo's do it.
I have yet to see 26 MPG on the freeway, it will only achieve this at 70 mph. So if you drive 80 look for 21 or 22 max....read morehide0 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- FAST; sharp looking; comfort; fun to drive; nice options
- Cons
- fuel econ; needs premium; stock stereo weak; auto climate control...
when paired with the 5 speed, this turbo hauls. all 4 wheels grip, so no burning rubber off the line. i frequently feel it should have 6 speeds, but that's when i've climbed through all the gears on the on ramp and want one more, only to realize i'm doing 80+ and havn't hit the actual freeway yet! while i think it would benefit from a 6th gear for fuel savings (tachs about 3K at 75-80 mph. in 5th)
stock stereo, weak. add the optional sub and it's ok.
the auto climate control is a bit obnoxious. goes full-tilt until it reaches the set temp. a little overboard, but ok. overall, a great car. we love it.
great in the snow of MI. handles very well in all conditions....read morehide0 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Better fuel mileage than my 2003
- Cons
- There is a bit too much body roll when cornering hard but I think a larger rear sway bar and bushing
This is my 6th Legacy sedan and I wouldn't even consider anything else. I drove a rental Camry twice, once when my 97 was in the shop and again later on vacation and I think they are junque. My girlfriend had a Honda Accord that we took on 2 trips and they are noisy and they handle for s%. Every one of my Subarus has been GREAT but the newest one has always been just a bit better.

- Pros
- very responsive, incredible handling, AWD is superior to others I've owned
- Cons
- ride could be smoother
I've been driving the 2.5 GT wagon for nearly two years now. It's never let me down and has only been at the dealership for routine recommended maintenance and oil changes. I live near a ski resort and it always gets me to the slopes regardless of the amount of snowfall, and that's with the stock low profile tires!
I was following (at a safe distance) a car going about 55mph this summer. The car signaled a right hand turn, but suddenly decided to turn left instead right in front of me. I had to make a dramatic swerve to the left, wheels on the shoulder, and avoided a roll over or what would have been a very serious accident. My heart was in my throat, but the car responded exceptionally well and I'm grateful I was driving a Subaru, I'm sure the other driver felt the same...they had three kids in the back seat!
Great car, great car company....read morehide1 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- AWD, acceleration
- Cons
- interior build quality, turbo lag, no satellite radio, fuel economy
I have been driving this car for few months now. It has been a blast to drive. I travel nearly 100 miles a day and I actually look forward to the commute. The acceleration is just awesome( I have a stick shift) and needs tremendous self control to keep the driving license from getting suspended. It has behaved impeccably whenever I had to drive in snow or rain. The minor gripe have is about the build quality of the interior- some trim getting loose- but I can live with it.
It also has some turbo lag contrary to what others have mentioned before- but I feel it is just a minor irritation....read morehide0 out of 1 people found this review helpful.
