Here is an update after 5 months and 6000 miles. The mpg is averaging 27 which impresses me. Why? This is no lightweight low powered econobox. It's got real nice power and a very well matched cvt. Gets out of its own way with gusto and drives quite sporty for such a comfortable car. I have two other nice cars but this one really hit the "sweet spot" of good feedback, comfort, quiet, visibility (day and night) and anything else one looks for in a car. Lots of room, comfortable seats, nicely weighted steering. Subaru has been making 4 wheel drive cars for over 35 years. Of course, these are AWD and with the combination of anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, and several other computerized safety controls these cars have evolved into much safer versions. Unlike some other companies (which we won't name) Subaru seems to improve each model year by listening to their customers. The 2010-12 versions of nearly the same car have had mixed reviews by some people. I never drove them but have read the 2013 fixed the problems. My experience so far has been a complete thumbs up. Try it and make up your own mind.
