- Pros
- Good fuel economy, great driving, 4 wheel drive wonderful, ABS a life saver
- Cons
- colored front bumper is not rugged
I love this car with only a few exceptions. The colored front bumper scratches easily and is a pain to get repaired. There is a stupid little plate on the passenger side of the front bumper that pops off very easy. This needs redesign for something more rugged. I'm 5'10" and I love it on long trips. My son is over 6 feet and hates it on long trips when he is in the back seat. Gas mileage is better than advertised with the 4 cylinder. Love the fact it runs on regular gas.

- Pros
- Average 30,000 miles per year. Summer driving 30+ mpg, winter 27-28 mpg.
- Cons
- Long distance seating is smaller, not as soft, shorter leg room for 6' male
Handles good in summer and better in winter. Long distance ride could improve (Softer seating and a hair larger). Repairs, other than normal no problems on two different cars in 3 years. Average 30,000+ miles per year. Great MPG! Can haul 4x8 sheet of wall board when needed. Very pleased overall.....read morehide

- Pros
- Great gas mileage, lots of room inside.
- Cons
- Brakes grind when 1st used for day, no storage behind driver seat, needs more cupholders.
I never thought in a million years that I would own a WAGON - but it is so sporty - you forget that you ARE driving a wagon. I just got my Outback in the beginning of July - I LOVE IT! I owned a Toyota P/U for 7 years, and since I sold that - I have NOT been happy with any other vehicle I purchased (Ford F260, Mazda6) until now!! It sits a little higher, which gives me more of a truck feel. It has ample storage/hauling space (with the exception of storage on the back of the driver seat) for me to lug all my stuff around and it gets GREAT Gas Mileage (better than my Mazda6). I get around 25-26 mpg day to day driving and 30-31 mpg highway driving - for an AWD - I say KUDOS to Subaru!!...read morehide

- Pros
- good mpg, pretty comfortable heated seats, low center of gravity, great in snow
- Cons
- transmission shifting not smooth, bf goodrich junk tires, headlights blow out alot, speakers junk,
Keep looking around at suvs coming out in 2007, and keep coming back to the subaru. With high gas prices.... 28-30 mpg hwy is great. I put chrome rims on mine, tinted the glass dark, bugshield. It looks pretty sharp for a wagon. I can tow my Scamp travel trailer (1300 lbs) and still get 20 - 22 mpg. If I upgrade, I will go with the 3.0 engine without losing much mpg. I had to replace the cheap junk speakers they put in it with the best Infinity speakers. Sounds good now. I had nothing but problems with the BF Goodrich tires from day 1. They are junk. I have noticed they come standard on many new cars. Seems like if they sell so many tires, they could make them better. I put the best tires I know of on: Les Schwab Toyo 800. Rides good now. This is the best vehicle for all around use..... I even hauled six 10' boards with the liftgate closed the other day (set the ends on the dash, on a blanket) no sweat. Great for camping, etc....read morehide

- Pros
- Smooth ride, roomy, comfortable feels safe as a tank.
- Cons
- None yet
I've owned this vehicle for a few weeks and have to say, I made a great decision. We bought the willow green w/Navigation system. I'm a car nut, traded in a Saab 92x high performace car, never though I could enjoy a vehicle like this, I was wrong. First, it feels safe as a tank to drive. It hugs the road and reminds me a lot of my 02' Explorer. The ride is very smooth, in fact much smoother than I expected. At 175hp, you won't win any drag races, but it performs more than adequate for every day life. My last car had 227 hp and I found it to be an utter waste, wow I can floor it for 4 seconds before stop and go traffic, big deal!
I'm getting 23 mpg city and about 28 highway so far, not bad for a 2 week old car. After 1000 miles, I'll punch it a little, but not yet. The navigation system is the most awesomely annoying feature ever. The dude has a slight Australian accent, but I still haven't figured out how to use it completely. The owners manual for the Nav. system is like an encyclopedia. Can't wait til it snows! I love my outback...read morehide4 out of 7 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Great handling and very well built. Nice interior materials, good gas mileage.
- Cons
- Lacks a little power, but there is a way around that. No ipod jack on stereo.
This is a great car, best I have ever owned. I installed a K & N high-perfomance air filter element to replace the paper air filter and I think I get at least 8-10 horsepower more from the engine, and it runs a lot smoother. Also using shell v-power makes it run even better, worth the extra few buck at the pump. I just wish Subaru would have an option to upgrade the stereo or would have added an ipod jack. I'm very happy with my purchase....read morehide

- Pros
- 32.7 mpg highway, 28.8 mpg mixed driving. Performance of 2.5 I engine. why buy larger?
- Cons
- Storage space, Passenger seat height for long legged, and knee room for driver.
For me the performance of the 2.5 engine is very satisfactory. I was very impressed with the mileage, quietness of the car and smoothness of the 4 cyl. engine. Car is tight and rattle free.
Wish there was better knee room for the driver with various seat adjustments. Passenger seat is low for long legged passengers. Sound system in basic model is basic. No storage space under seats or under floor in rear. No storage space for CD,s. Really like the concept of all wheel drive and increased ground clearance, and its practicality vs SUV.s. A good value for the kind of driving I do....read morehide5 out of 6 people found this review helpful.
