- fun to drive, very good hadling, comfortable heated seats
- MPG keep going down to 18 in freeway and little bite city
I would say this is a very good car except the bad gas mileage. I have a 2006 3.0 L.L.Bean. I bought it in July 2006. Now the mileage is 4000+. I majorly drive it from home to work and vice versa. It is about 20 miles everyday, and 95% is freeway. In the first 2500 miles, the gas mileage was very good. It was 23+ MPG. Then after 2500 miles, it starts going down gradually, like 22, 20, 19 and then eventually down to 18 MPG now. The tire pressure is right. I could not think of any reason why it has so bad gas mileage. Sometimes I even doubt that the tank leaks. But no OBD number shown. The most painfull thing is it seems the gas mileage still going down. I do not know what is the end? I asked dealer about this when I did 3000 mile maintence with them. They could not tell why. Does anybody see this kind of problem? Thanks!...read morehide

- Room in rear end, handling, AWD.
- Tires a bit too much performance, not enough snow tire, squeek in the sun roof cover
I have 15,000 miles in 4 month of ownership. The car has exceded my high expectations. I have had large SUV's and Pick-ups the past 20 years, this is the smallest car I have owned in a long time, and it really is doing the job. It is a gas to drive and pretty comfortable. I'm 6 ft, 185 and I fit in it really well.
The tire low indicator works, I had a nail in a rear tire and it was barely low, and the light went on. I put air in and later that week it went on again. I went to the dealer and they found the nail. Pretty impressive.
Only negatives so far are a squeek in the sun roof cover and the mileage is not as expected. 19-22 around town, 22-24 on the road, but I drive hard.
I have been in a lot of cars, that cost a lot more than this car, that were not as nice, dependable or fun to drive. I highly recommend the Subaru Outback wagon....read morehide

- Smart looking car, great body integrity, lots of pickup, quick handling.
- Fuel economy less than predicted: 22-23 mpg highways, less than 20 mpg city.
What a great car overall. Excellent handling in wet weather. Very smooth transmission and very quiet ride overall. The GPS is a bit of a challenge to program and takes some getting used to. The 250 hp v-6 is very responsive and gobbles up hills. My only real regret is that I didn't buy the car sooner....read morehide

The 2006 Subaru Outback 3.0 R L.L. Bean Edition Sedan is very sport car. I have the garnet red pearl with a sun roof. It is a pretty, yet sporty car. Very appropriate for a women.

- well equipped and nice looking
- no place to put CD's or change
The temperature control system works well. The sound system is great! (I have the optional subwoofer) I wish they had designed the interior storage space to include a spot for CD's and for parking meter change. It's a minor point - but, the steering wheel controls seem backwards to me and aren't the same as in other cars I've owned. (the volume controls should be on the left and the tuner controls should be on the right) The car feels solid and there is very little wind noise. It has some road noise, but what can you expect from an AWD SUV look-alike? I bought the optional dog guard and the winter weather floor mats - great way to increase the practicality of the vehicle....read morehide

- This car is so much fun to drive! It handles like a sports car with the practicality of a wagon.
- My average gas milage in city rush hour traffic is only 20+ mpg.
I have 2 dogs and love the rubber liner in the back. My Outback can be my rugged "dog car" and yet is luxurious enough that whenever someone gets in they comment on how nice it is. Most people don't expect a Subaru to be so nice. I have the LL Bean. It is so comfortable for long drives. My husband has a Audi A4 but prefers the performance of the Outback. Test drive one, you'll be surprised....read morehide
