2006 Subaru Outback
There are 3 user reviews for the 3.0 R VDC Wagon trim shown below
- Attractive interior. Great sound system: 6-disk w/sub and MP3
- Climate control. Heated seats. Hood latch. CD player keeps breaking. Engine lag.
Climate control is horrible. Heat comes pouring out in winter. System bottoms out at 65 degrees: at 66, heat is uncontrolable. At 65, AC comes on automatically, like a jet engine. No in between. Must keep looking down at climate control to adjust: taking eyes off road is a security hazard. Car should be recalled strictly for climate control.
Heated seats are 4-way adjustable. At lowest setting, they burn. Must be toggled on and off.
Hood popped open twice. Possibly due to being left open by dealer service, or by poor latch.
I'm on my 4th CD desk in 1 1/2 years. At least they were covered by warranty.
Transmission jumps esp when cold, but is otherwise OK. Engiine is powerful but has annoying lag when you hit the accelerator.
I've owned a lot of cars and have liked most. Would never buy another Subaru again....read morehide

- Improved acceleration, better cornering over 2004 VDC
- Inside trim
ICK. I am a stauch VDC owner and recently considered going from my current 2004 VDC to the 2006. I'll stay with what I have, thank you very much! The inside trim alone is sufficient for me to suspect they've cheapened the entire vehicle. It looks like a low level car inside, with the "wood" trim looking more like wood look contact paper instead of the previous elegant wood dash.
Still no IPOD cable standard? C'mon. I had the McIntosh in my 2004 VDC - nice sound but NO IPOD kits possible. STILL no easy resolution with 2006.
I'm looking for other manufacturers now....read morehide

- great handling, goes like stink, love the tranny
- Tires should be replaced asap.
I 6'4 and just fit. this model has the sunroof and is still fine. I have the 05 and it's got 30,000 on it. No problems so far. If you live in the Mts like I do, I use Mich xice for Winter and piolt for summer. I've hit black ice at 65mph and it felt like it was dancing, but staight as an arrow. I also take it to bush on logging roads in all seasons, not as godd as some but better than my PU4x4 in mud or snow. If you want good gas# drive the speed limit....read morehide
