Bought this vehicle new. Wish I would have got the 6cyl. Overall nice car. I know it can take a hit - was at a stop light when I was rear ended. Scratches on my rear bumper however the vehicle hitting me sustained some damage. Solid car

- Pros
- big, roomy, powerful, quiet, comfy!
- Cons
- mpg, but it is a big motor and you should expect it.

i love my outback. great family truckster. tons of cargo space, plenty of passenger room. controls are where they should be. ride is quiet and compliant. this also happens to be about as safe a car that you can buy, that isin't a volvo... i am from Maine and love Subaru. even as a Florida transplant, the all wheel drive handles the crazy rain, and the a?c blasts away the sauna summers. you will not, not, regret buying this car....read morehide

- Pros
- Confidence when driving; completely reliable
- Cons
- 4 cyl engine not powerful enough; harmon/kardon stereo could be better
Purchased As New
My 2nd Subaru. My 1st had 168,000 miles without any non routine issues. Ordered my limited but wish I would have gotten the 6 cyl. Now have 17,000 miles on it averaging on the highway 29.8 mpg and 24.2 mpg in city driving. This car has quality built into it and value is what I look for and it has great resale value....read morehide

- Pros
- Special appearance pkg., 3.6 engine, full time awd
- Cons
- nothing serious I can think of
Purchased As New
I have the 3.6 with the special appearance pkg. This is a tight, torquey, mini suv with all the attributes of a sport sedan. The paddle shifters are great. The upscale special appearance pkg. is great (though it could be even more upscale and compete with Volvo and Audi). Fit and finish are great and the paint is flawless. The wheel moldings and bottom cladding has kept all stone hits off the paint. The 8.5" ground clearance makes it a breeze to navigate back roads to our favorite bike trails, not to mention a breeze to get in and out of. It has some small issues like a NAV that cant be adjusted while the car is moving, an unlit driver's door lock button, no height adjustment on the passenger seat, and side view mirrors that dont adjust to driver 1 and driver 2 presets. Gas milage is in the mid 20s on highway driving and between 18 and 19 around town....read morehide

- Pros
- Very roomy and comfortable. Very sturdy.
- Cons
- seat height and handling on country roads
Purchased As New
I am 5'4" and never owned a subaru before 2012. I have a difficult time with visiblility and I find that for me the seat does not raise up as high as I would like. I use a cushion which I have never done with another vehicle. I do love the way it handles on the curve of a road but I think when I am generally driving on country roads the handling is a lot of work. It is not a relaxing drive for me. The price is so good for a car of this quality but I just do not enjoy and relax while driving it. A bit dissappointed....read morehide

- Pros
- Better mileage than I expected 30+MPG, Fun to drive, Great storage, Sporty
- Cons
- Only a slight negative - a bit more road noise than I expected, but only at higher speeds.

Easy to drive, easy to park. Sports car feel in a practical AWD car. I really like the new rack system. Hauling bikes and skis is simple. Great car.

- Pros
- Ride comfort, interior room, lighting, MPG, VALUE, CVT
- Cons
- Sluggish 4cyl engine, wallowy highway handling
Purchased As New
This wagon does it all: smooth on-road handling, stellar light off-roading, great long-distance cruiser. Handles all your gear and then some. Did I mention the 25MPG average fuel economy? Smooth as butter CVT. Fantastic value for the money. Drawbacks? A little more power would be nice out the engine. Subaru: How about one of the turbos under the bonnet? Of course, outstanding AWD. Overall a stellar ride. Drive it. You'll see what I mean....read morehide

- Pros
- Ride, power, great seats, handling in all conditions, AC/heat, legroom, headroom, great mileage
- Cons
- Approach & departure angles could be better. Tires could be bigger.

Best of many SUV's owned. City mileage averages 25.2 for 6 cylinders. I drove up Pikes Peak in 3rd gear or higher, used paddle shifters downhill and never needed the brakes! AWD system superior to other SUV's in mud, gravel, snow & ice. We took it to a 4WD mud, rock, sand and gravel park to get a feel for it,and kept up with modified 4WD's who though we were nuts, but then they were all crowding around asking questions about it. 2011 model with 32,000 miles. No repairs needed so far....read morehide
