This is a very comfortable car, quiet, good ergodynamics, feels good on the road with very little noise, electronics on limited are far out with eyesight system and cruise control that follows a set distance from cars in front. nav system is not great though. CVT trani is a big improvement on the standard auto with better fuel econ...read morehide

- Pros
- Comfort, performance, appearance, solid construction, price
- Cons
- Lacking several modern amenities; V6 gas mileage is not great
Purchased As New
Subaru, please add ventilated seats, power t&t steering wheel and lift gate, time delay headlights, and automatic power door locks. Really, shift paddles??? Dopey gimmick. What happened to merely tromping on the accelerator? I have a 2013 Limited V6 Appearance Package in Silica Black. Outstandingly handsome car. Who knew a Subie could be this nicely appointed? I was treated very well by a local dealer who helped me get out of an un-missed leased Lincoln MKZ. I hope it holds up as well as it has been touted....read morehide

I have never owned a Subaru, but this one tops the cake, drives very nicely , hugs the road, and the seat are as comfortable as your furniture in your home, can't wait to take a trip in it, so tired of being squeezed up in those little car so I can get good m.P.G. I get an easy 32 M.P.G. on the highway , please don't be fooled by those other 4x4 s this is the Real sport 4 wheel drive vehicle , I promise you , you will love this vehicle !!!!!!

- Pros
- Power, VALUE, bigger than I thought, hall a canoe, 4x4, blue tooth much more
- Cons
- Not much! Maybe rolling locks at 5mph. Auto window down all 4 windows.

After my 2003 pathfinder needed more work than it was worth I had let her go.(good SUV) I did a ton of research on new cars. Did I want an SUV, wagon? Break down - all SUVs are over priced for what you get. I love euro wagons. Not many to pick from VW, BMW, Audi and Benz all to much for what you get. VW to small. Wait what is this Subaru combo of a wagon and SUV?
The Outback for me is a perfect blend of SUV, wagon, utility, VAULE and all wheel drive. I drove the H4 and the 3.6r.
H4 has the new CVT it's very good. Drives well. Great highway car once at speed. Great MPG. Little tough getting on the highway but its a 4 cylinder in a big car. Did not notice this at lower speeds.
3.6r once I test drove it I knew I was going to buy it. Great power(almost sporty). Bigger breaks than the H4 great handling for a big wagon. There is a feeling of solidness through out the car. This is the closest car you can get the a euro wagons with all the bells and whistles for 34K and it bigger than all the euro wagons too....read morehide1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Fuel Economy / All wheel drive / comfort.
- Cons
- None so far. Electric parking brake was confusing at first.
Purchased As New
Fuel Economy (2000 miles, av 28.1 city/hwy. I bought this to two 4 down behind my motorhome. I have only towed it once (1,100 miles) and I didn't even notice it was back there. So far seats are very comfortable. the 6 speed manual is shifting smoother every day. No snow yet, so I haven't tried out the all wheel drive. It has a firm, but very smooth and stable ride. I had to order the "base" model so I could tow it, but even the base model is loaded with features that are optional on other cars. Plenty of power when coupled with the 6 speed manual....read morehide

- Pros
- all wheel drive is great
- Cons
- leaked fluid from differential, traffic still doesn't work, GPS not so good
Purchased As New
My mechanic told me if I purchase a Subaru they're good once you fix the leaks. He was right within 30 days it was leaking at the differential. The traffic on the GPS never has worked and Subaru is slow to get it working. Apparently this happened to 10,0000 Subaru's, they told me. Miles is more on the low side rather than in the middle or high side. GPS has to have to many keystrokes to get where you want to go. Should take a lesson from Garmin, not Tom Tom, which is who they use....read morehide

- Pros
- great fuel economy
- Cons
- the factory tires suck and are noisy
Purchased As New
Bought the appearance package and the car has almost anything you can get on it. The nav learning curve is a bit tough and still not used to having no key for the ignition. We love the car and the gas milage is pretty exceptional. We went back and forth over the sierras on its first 3 hundred mile trip and averaged 31.8 mpg. This is 8 mpg better than our 2007 highlander got. Hard to believe but true. We didnt drive to get good milage, just flat drove it. The only complaint is the tires are noisy. Conti Pro Contact tires are far from being the best. Love the transmission and the motor is just fine for power...read morehide

- Pros
- Comfortable ride, great handling, solid feel!
- Cons
- Engine noise on acceleration
Purchased As New
After numerous cars, mostly Japanese in nature we've found our favorite. The Subie is the perfect balance of comfort, utility and value. We can haul huge loads and/or passengers in total faith the car will take it all in stride. We've taken numerous long trips and average over 25 miles to the gallon ciy/highway combined. Never been happier with any car and that includes númerous Toyotas and Hondas.
P.S- Our Subaru dealer service is awesome!...read morehide10 out of 10 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Ride, Handling, Room, Fuel Economy
- Cons
- Manual shifter is a little noisy/clunky, would prefer manual parking brake
Purchased As New
My previous car was a Volvo wagon and the Subie seems better in every way. There is a lot more interior room for all passengers and the car feels very solid. It has great ground clearance (so you don't scrape everywhere), but doesn't sit too high to get in/out of comfortably. The ride/handling are both good and I'm averaging 29.7 MPG (according to the computer) for the last 8,000+ miles in mostly "around town" driving. That is with the manual transmission and an effort to save gas when driving. My only complaints would be that the shifter does vibrate which makes it noisy and that I'm not sold on the electronic parking brake, although it is easy to use....read morehide
