1997 Subaru SVX User Reviews
- Smooth ride, excellent power, overall comfort
- weak transmission, weak rear wheel bearings
Purchased As Used
The SVX is a very nice car for the money they're bringing. They're smooth, comfotable, and quiet. They're also deceptively fast. You have to factor in a measure of exclusivity, with only 14,000 of them imported over five years.
The window in a window is a love it or hate it feature. With familiarity the inner frame sort of goes away.
The interior is VERY comfortable, with the 8 way power adjustable driver's seat, and soft aromatic leather. The stock 6 speaker CD sound system is adequate for all but the most zealuos audiophiles
Performance wise, the SVX is solidly mid-pack for it's contemporaries. While it does move out quite well, you'd do well not to challenge later model sport sedans. The better alternative is to buy a car that has had a 5speed trans swapped in. If you're mechanically inclined you can swap in the 5speed in a couple weekends yourself.
In the end, the SVX is the perfect tool for transporting four adults in perfect comfort, at insane speeds, through mischevious weather...read morehide
