Mom always knows best. She encouraged me to purchase a Subaru so I did some research and found the crosstrek to be well suited to my taste and most importantly my budget.
I agree with what the other reviewers wrote in terms of handling, speed, and mileage. It is a superb vehicle in those areas.
I just wanted to share my testimony of my driving experience with my Subbee on Friday February 9, 2013...the day of a big snow storm on the East Coast.
Subbee drove effortlessly in the thick snow. The vehicle dynamic system is quickly responsive and made me feel safe and in control. I was able to plow through snow banks created by snow plows as they plowed through the intersections. Cars were following close behind in the tracks made by Subbee...making me feel ever so confident in the capabilities of my ride.
Even my brother commented, "wow, it's like you're driving on dry ground. So awesome".
I'm beyond pleased with my purchase and I'm so thankful everyday that I can completely enjoy the experience of driving a Subaru!!...read morehide5 out of 5 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Good fuel, Good power, Great in Snow and Rain!
- Cons
- Seats are alittle stiff
Purchased As New
I purchased this car New, it has 3000 miles on it and it rides pretty Darn Smooth. It's Great in the Snow and Rain with no problem with a 8.7 ground clearence it should be.
I bought this for it's AWD system and because it's a Subaru and yes are other cars out there with AWD system but for the price, performance and realbility it was a Subaru. I can tell you all about the accessories on the inside, there good too, but the real-deal is how it handles in the weather....read morehide3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Bought XV back in October, 2012. It's been 2 1/2 months and I'm enjoying very day driving to work and to home. I'm averaging 28.8 mpg combination of streets and hwy. Get the Limited edition since it has heated seats can be useful on cold weather. Loving the bluetooth, sync to my android samsung note 2. Man, it's all voice activated which means free from texting and dialing manually. You'll never get disappointed, could wish for a turbo version next year but AWD is awesome for off roading. Best of all, it's built by the number one reliable auto maker in Japan and in USA....read morehide

I purchased my Crosstrek new and have had it for two weeks thus far. I did not rate reliability due to this, but one of the reasons I purchased a Subaru was because their excellent reliability records.
I did a lot of research before buying this. The knock on this vehicle was the 148 horsepower engine. When I test drove it, I put the pedal down and it's fast enough. There is no problem at all with merging on the freeway or accelerating from 65 to 75 miles per hour to get around a slower car. The throttle is also very responsive off of the line, so acceleration feels pretty quick.
I was surprised at how spacious the interior is. I put the driver's side seat all the way back and sat in the back seat. There is plenty of room for me. I'm 6 foot tall and my knees don't hit the seat in front. Plenty of head room, too.
The leather seats are nice and the heated seats are also a nice feature. The interior is a bit dated by today's standards, but I like the fact that it doesn't have a ton of buttons and switches all over the dash. That said, the navigation system is decent overall. It's a bit sluggish at times, but the voice command seems to work reasonably well. Bluetooth on the phone is also nice, but the mic seems a bit weak. I haven't tried to adjust it yet, however. The stock sound system is acceptable and most people will probably be happy with it. I'm an audiophile, so adding a 5 channel amplifier, new door speakers and a sub.
The Crosstrek handles well and has a nice solid ride. The steering is responsive and it takes corners without a lot of roll. The ride itself is comfortable and solid. I took a 200 mile road trip last week and felt comfortable the whole time. I suppose it could use lumbar support, but for me it's not necessary.
Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. It's nice to have an automobile that has the handling and fuel economy of a car, but features of a small SUV in terms of storage space inside and a roof rack on top. All wheel drive plus 9" of ground clearance is making me look forward to the first snow of the season....read morehide12 out of 12 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Good fuel economy, looks cool, Good performance, great Bluetooth
- Cons
- Ride can be stiff, cargo space could be greater, CVT can be noisy at times
Purchased As New
I have driven my Crosstrek over 1,500 miles and really enjoy it. Ignore reviews that say it's under-powered. Once you get used to the CVT transmission, it is totally adequate. I love the Bluetooth for phone use and the USB port for iPod plug-in. This car is fun to drive and very sure-footed. It also has a great finish with a beautiful red color. You cannot beat a Subaru for AWD bang for the bucks. Check it out, if you can find one. They are selling well....read morehide

I purchased my XV about 2 weeks ago and have driven over 1000 miles already. I am averaging 28 MPG so far and love every second behind the wheel. The style of the XV is awesome. Subaru has done a great job making this car appeal to many people and demographics. I am in my mid 30s, married with a 18 month old. I run tris and hang the bike off the back often. I work in the financial arena and can pull up to a client meeting and feel good about what I drive. It is responsable and stylish at the same time....read morehide

- Pros
- Great fuel economy, roomy, it's different than anything on the road today.
- Cons
- It's not really a con, but the side mirrors are very large.
Purchased As New
All I keep hearing is how the engine performance is weak. If you ever drove a Honda Civic EX, CR-V, Accord(4 cylinder) then you'll understand the performance... It's the same. The power plant is great and only sips 87 octane fuel. That's right, no high octane fuel needed for this one.
I won't have to worry about snow with the high ground clearance and AWD drive system. I was going to buy a toyota tacoma or a nissan frontier truck; but, with gas prices only going up. This was the perfect alternative.
This is my first Subaru and I'm very pleased with the results.
I didn't rate the "Reliability" since it's brand new....read morehide9 out of 9 people found this review helpful.

- Exellent handling, ride height, and fuel economy
- Cons
- Just a bit noisy at highway speeds

I have had the car 1 month, driven 2,700 miles and am averaging 32.7 MPG, driven conservatively but not extremely so. I am very pleased with the performance, feel comfortable merging on to highways, enjoy the paddle shifters on back roads, and like the ride height. Really like the back-up camera with color guides....read morehide
