2006 Suzuki Forenza Wagon User Reviews
- reliable, not too costly, great mpg, excellent turning radius, good resale
- noisy after 20k miles
Purchased As Used
I have this 06 forenza wagon at 47k miles now, never had any major issues so far. Had been a great car so far without any major problems and we love it. It has a lot of storage capcity in the trunk. Some reviews talks about starting trouble, I had it only once and the dealership updated some codes in its computer at no extra charge for me. One more lil problem happened in past, the computer would put me in neutral while in drive mode, the car acted like neutral, replaced the oxygen sensor at dealer for $385 and its going good since then.
So overall i have spent $400 on this car, putting 30k miles on it, other then regular oil and filter change services. Not a bad deal and its running absolutely well.
Surprising fact that i discovered was when one time I climbed uphill on muddy road, not real road at an inclination at lower gear, at 60 degrees, would not recommend it to anyone. I just happend to get in that situation. I regretted for that i did not had the camera at that time to record it. Trust me I have'nt seen too many suv's doing similar climb. I also had 2 passengers in the rear at that time.
Great car....read morehide

- features for the dollar, easy to see out and park, great (hwy) mpg, warranty, interior room, looks
- i hate car payments but waddya gonna do, acceleration, no curtain airbags
I have two small children, so this is nearly the perfect car for us- back seats have plenty of room so no one is "touching me" or kicking the back of the seat- load floor is low to the ground so it is easier to load a double stroller- two kids, two adults, and enough luggage to go on safari, and we still got 31 mpg driving Kentucky to Florida-wife says no blind spots, so easier for her to pass and parallel park-lots of storage cubbies- suzuki offers a bumper to bumper warranty to match the length of their drivetrain warranty for a small upcharge- dealership (Swope in Louisville,KY) didn't treat us credit challenged folks as if they were doing us a favor by speaking to us (Jessica was awesome)-comfortable for skinny, petite wife and overweight husband- goldfish, cheerios, raisins, even shredded cheese (don't knock it 'till you try it) clean up easily off the seats- rear power outlet means no DVD cords up front, and power outlet in front cubbyhole means cell phone cords are out of the way- excellent highway car, holds 75 mph with nominal effort-We love our suzuki!...read morehide

- a lot of car for the money
- seats a little uncomfortable
Bought new, I like this car, I get 21 mpg so far but I have only put 500 miles on it so far. I have owned a few new cars over the years and I have to say this one is pretty nice, has many standard features you pay big bucks for in other cars, ie, 4 wheel anti lock disk brakes, front & side air bags, great warranty. Could be improved as far as comfort goes, seats are cheap but overall a good buy, I have paid more and gotten less...read morehide

- Milage, price, warranty
- Needs tinted glass.
I traded a Saturn View 5 speed for this car. It is a good looker, okay gas mileage, and a great deal for the money. Could use standard tinted glass. Overall a great buy with a great warranty. I expect it to be trouble free for ever.

- Great content for the $. Standard 4 wheel disc brakes. Nice overall package.
- Handles ok but, could use stiffer sway bars. No "aftermarket" support.
I love my Daezukiwoo! (it is really just a rebadged Daewoo Nubira Wagon, after all).
I actually hesitated to buy this car based on it's Daewoo background, but figured since it came with such a great warranty (3/36 bumper to bumper and 7yr./100,000 miles powertrain) and Suzuki was willing to stand behind it, I'd give this "Suzuki" a try since I've owned their purebreads before.
I'm glad I did, as I've yet to be let down.
Fuel economy could be better (I'm averaging 24mpg "mixed" driving)
but since the engine is old-tech and therefore has less to go wrong with it in the future, I figure I'll save the money spent on fuel there.
In hilly terrain the transmission does seem to "hunt" a bit. But after reading the owners book and learing about the transmissions "hold" feature, the "hunting" is no longer a problem and my fuel mileage has improved.
Heavier sway bars would have made this vehicle a confidence inspiring handler but, as the familly run-about it's still acceptable....read morehide

- Great utility, good fuel milage, fun to drive
- Noisy engine, long shift throws. Quickly worn factory tires
I bought this wagon because I liked it more then cheap car looks. I soon was very suprised by its quality and utility. I am a drummer so anything I buy has to have some size to it for moving my equipment. The Suzuki fits my gear plus it has a great sound system. I was driving a nice pick up before this but now I really don't miss it. And a funny thing is my teenagers and their friends think it is pretty cool. This car has plenty of power and has gotten 30 mpg before I put snow tires on it and 29 mph since. Both work for me with the price of gas....read morehide

- Inexpensive vehicle and that is also what you will get
- Fuel economy in city driving is unacceptable at 13 to 15 MPG , better off buying a tank
Definitely a Do Not Buy. Fuel economy in actual city driving is unacceptable for a vehicle of this class (Small Economy Car/Wagon).
If this car had been made in the 1970's era it would be bad but today it is a DO NOT BUY...

- Excellent value for the money, tons of standard equipment, smooth styling, Wagon/Small "SUV" Utility
- Some of the interior upholstery is not appealing, Automatic gear shift takes getting used to
This car is one of the few true "wagons" on the market today offered with a 4-cylinder engine, 30mpg highway, and a low entry price. People who feel they need the utility of an SUV, and feel that a hatchback is too small, but never go off-road in their car-based "cute utes" should consider this as a viable, practical alternative.
The styling was penned in Italy, and the interior looks great, with much nicer looking materials than you'd expect in such a "cheap" car.
The fuel economy could be better, but when weighing the total cost of owning a vehicle like this, combined fuel economy of around 25 miles per gallon is generous for a vehicle that offers wagon utility. In trips I have seen it get 32 mpg or so.
The cargo area is larger than most popular so-called wagons or hatchbacks like the PT Cruiser or the Toyota Matrix. The layout is much like the 4 and 6 cylinder station wagons of the 1980's, and if you want something like that again your choices are limited to this wagon and perhaps a Ford Focus wagon.
Compare the equipment and price and I think you'll find the Forenza wagon stacks up better in the end than a lot of the alternatives....read morehide
