- Cargo Room, Styling, decent MPG., great warranty, side air bags, PRICE!
- Not stellar fuel economy, very basic interior, AC and heat could be better.
My better half and I purchased this car around Thanksgiving 2006. We were in need of a wagon due to the fact our old car died on us, and with our 3rd young child on the way, money was tight and we needed the room.
After some internet hunting, driving around to a few car lots and looking, talking to owners of other wagons, both Suzuki's and other makes; and looking at the final price; I decided on the Forenza Wagon in a nice blue color.
The cargo room was the big turn on to me. I have 2 children (8 and a 1 year old) with another on the way in April, and the first thing I did was see how easily my stroller and car seat fit into the car. I was very happy with the room that was left over.
The rear seats fold down, which has been useful when i needed to haul several 2x4's or pipe for either the home or office i work at.
I drive this car on average 450-500 miles per week, for up to 4 hours at a time. I also have quite the lead foot when my children are not in the car. This car handles very well for what it is at 55mph, 75mph and even at 105mph. Most cars get "the shakes" at higher speeds and this one hasn't had them yet.
Power wise it's not the cream of the crop. Get a Subaru if you want that. It will however, get you around traffic when you step on it. So far, I've had zero powertrain issues with the car.
Interior is pretty basic, but i actually enjoy that. Everything is within easy reach and easily understood. I don't feel like i need a Pilot's license and a space suit to drive the thing. The radio is "ok". I'm pretty big into audio systems, and know them quite well. For what you'll pay, you'll get a decent radio/CD player. Nothing to rave about in my opinion.
The AC is ok, the heater is "picky". I routinely find myself playing with the temperature. I get either too warm, or too cold. I could just be me though!
The best part for me was the price. We had no trade in at the time, which really hurt, but after a few back and forth conversations, i think i paid $14,200 roughly for the car. Obviously that doesn't include the interest, etc etc.
Overall, for the money, it's a nice little car and serves us very well. My better half and children love it. We didn't have alot of money when we bought it, and the car payment and insurance aren't killing us at the moment either. I feel safe when my family is in it and that means alot to me.
To anyone who is looking for the basic "Point A to Point B" car with small family room, and can't afford a gas hog SUV, I'd suggest they take a look at the Suzuki Forenza Wagon....read morehide

- Cargo room, euro styling, 8-speaker sound system
- So-so acceleration, fuel economy not outstanding for a 4-cylinder
The Forenza wagon is one of a dwindling breed of cars that was popular in the 1980s after the first oil shock: inexpensive four cylinder powered front-wheel-drive wagons. While there are many hatchbacks in the US market now, most of thme have a pretty small or almost non-existent cargo areas unless you fold the rear seats. The Forenza offers a cavernous cargo area for what it is based on - a compact car. And while Subaru and Saab offer 4-cylinder wagons, their fuel economy is usually compromised in favor of horsepower and turbocharging, which jacks up their sticker price too.
The Forenza sedan itself is just mediocre in its class, but the wagon is very competitive for all of the cargo room and wagon versatility that it offers. And it only costs around $1000 more to move up to the wagon.
Rides and handles well for a wagon, probably due to overhangs which are very short for a true wagon. Seat fabric is cheap and cheesey, but other materials are nice.
8-speaker radio sounds great for a generic looking head unit....read morehide
